D-E-A-D!
The Dog is wagged!
-
fuck death penalty. Sure the man killed looots of people, but death penalty is just WRONG. animals,im telling you, they are all animales!
-
We'll see how you react when someone you love is taken in such a sensless and violent fashion. It's an extreme form of punishment, however some crimes have no other reaction.
-
No one has the right to kill another person. That there's a law that says capital punishment is ok, it's just ludacris.
-
Of course no one has that right, but the punishment is more for the others in the population rather than the direct violation against the individual. While it is a vile thing to do, and should never be done, there's alot of things in society that should never be done and yet are done.
-
Fuck that. I believe in killing people that deserve to be killed. Saddam? TOTALLY had it coming. Confirmed Child Molestors? Also, death. Only none of this lethal injection crap; take a 9mm pistol, dig a hole, put the guy in, shoot'em in the head, bury him. Clean, cheap, and done.
As far as the religious angle goes, I'm failry sure some of the "God's Wrath" instances did a little more than give people "boo boo's".
-
I'm with E. The death penalty is fine by me. Also, whenever I've sent someone to the hospital I considered myself an instrument of all the almighty (just like Dolph in Johnny Mneumonic).
-
I have no opinion either way. If it was barbaric, or if he deserved it doesn't really matter now. He is dead and nothing can change that.
-
No he isn't!
:brings a ouija board:
-
Yes, he roasts in hell with Hitler and the other traitor villians.
-
Bet Dante Alighieri didnt think about that one
-
While Sadam did do alot of good things, his genocide made him viable for a public death. I believe Bush is deserving of the same thing. This is the responsibility of the people to punish their leaders for gross crimes against humanity.
-
Then you are a bigger imbecile than I'd originally believed you to be.
But the death penalty is a necessary part of society.
-
I'm usually pro-death penalty, but something about having an execution so publicized and celebrated makes me sad.
Also, that song's now stuck in my head.
-
Nothing wrong with reveling in the death of your enemies in my book. Especially with a douche like this guy who you know would kill you just as soon as look at you.
-
I don't see anything wrong with it either, but for whatever reason this instance is bothering me.
-
I'm as a rule Anti-death penalty. I'm not real preachy about it, but if someone were to ask me if I thought it was wrong I'd say "Yes", but in this instance I think he may have actually got what he deserved. Hence my no opinon.
-
I think the mere barbarism of a hanging in this day and age bothers me the most.
-
Yeah...if it doesn't break your neck it can take anywhere from 30-45 mins to die. Most famous case of that was in San Diego in where a man called Yankee Jim was accused of stealing a boat was hanged for it. It took 45 mins to slowly strangle to death.
Lethal Injection seems to be the least offensive to me if someone must die. You just sort of go to sleep and don't wake up.
-
Bullet. To the head.
-
Is it true that when you're hung you pop a boner and blow your final load and where that jizz falls a mandrake root is planted?
-
Ask Doug.
-
Is it true that when you're hung you pop a boner and blow your final load and where that jizz falls a mandrake root is planted?
 That's so wrong it's hilarious! Congratulations IDE, you finally said (edit: i forgot the dumb word i wanted to say before i put the wrong one. we'll leave it there)
-
 That's so wrong it's hilarious!
you got it! :)
-
No...that's not true, but you do shit your pants.
-
Don't forget the hanging execution of "Black Jack" Ketchum in 1901, where the distance he had to drop was miscalculated, and it ended up straight decapitating the guy. But he was an asshole, and he died instantly, so fuck him.
There have also been botched lethal injections before, and it's not always a pleasant way to die, in any case. Different folks have different body chemistries that react in different ways from time to time.
Probably the least painful involves the neck, such as hanging or guillotine, but the former is usually (as Nuri and Tom Brokaw pointed out) viewed as wild west revisited, and the latter is unacceptable in our antiseptic world. The successful snapping of the spinal cord sends the brain into immediate shock and kills it.
However, I'm of the opinion that capital punishment should reflect the crime. You shoot somebody in a robbery? Two in the back of the head. Strangle somebody in the middle of a rape? Choke with a baseball bat up your ass sideways. Crucifixion should be brought out of mothballs for the likes of such irredeemable fuckers like Charles Manson.
But when done right, hanging's as good a way to go as any.
Also, regarding IDE's mention of the hangman's boner, Wikipedia weighs in (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanging):
There is a popular myth about sexual stimulation of hanged men, due to the apparent erection some exhibited. The effect is attributed to gravity causing the blood to settle in the legs and lower torso, thereby engorging the penis. (This myth fuels the auto-erotic asphyxiation, a practice that might lead to an accidental death.)
That means the whole premise behind "Rising Sun" was total bullshit!
-
Wikipedia also claims that where "well hung" came from. I'll buy that when something non-Wiki-ish backs that one up.
-

Could you please enlighten us with what you mean by "bodies reacting on different ways"?
I thought that the lethal injection made you sleep and then you would die while sleeping.
-
Probably the least painful involves the neck, such as hanging or guillotine,
That's provided the guillotine works correctly and takes the head off in one blow. That wasn't always the case. There is also the "living head" thing, that can't be proved or disproved considering you have be beheaded to find out. You can't really tell anyone, after that.
-
Futurama's already proven that.
-
I always wondered in that show if they cloned people like George Washington, just to cut his head off and put it in a jar. And if so what did they do with their bodies? Feed it to the dogs? Give it over to the necrophiles? Make it into delicious Soylent Green? I wanna know!
-
All they grew was a head. Just like how they'll just grow a liver for IDE.
-
I like to think my healthy diet and excercise cancels out my drunken debauchery.
The guillotine would usually at least break the neck and kill you even if it didn't take your head off right? Or were some people still alive with it wedged in their neck screaming in agony as they raised it up for another chop?
This living head thing can only be answered by quickly grabbing my freshly decapitated head and having that superbly large assed guerrera chick blow air into my severed neck. Then if the head says something like "I did it for the lulz!" we'll know it's alive.
-
I wouldn't think that the fact that people react differently to drugs would have to be documented, Faye. Again, it seems that you have been underestimated. I apologize.
It should suffice to say that lethal injection, like other forms of punishment, will work flawlessly more than 99% of the time, and most of the less than 1% would have been preventable had the executioners paid sufficient attention.
As for the guillotine not working, it's been said that the head remains conscious for a few seconds before death takes place. Unconsciousness is a desireable aftereffect, but that's more a function of the impact (such as that from a long drop hanging or more hands-on beheading, as with the hacking of a sword or axe) than the breaking of the neck. While painless, the moments following a guillotining could be very traumatic.
Still beats the hacking beheading that preceded it, and it's certainly better than the sawing-style beheading that Nick Berg suffered.
Extra credit question: how do you pronounce "guillotine"? Do you say it with the "L" sound (Germanic) or the "Y" sound (Latin)?
-
Geeahteen for me or Geeohteen if I'm using a fake french accent.
-
Extra credit question: how do you pronounce "guillotine"? Do you say it with the "L" sound (Germanic) or the "Y" sound (Latin)?
Webster's actually has both, in addition to gee-uh-teen.
I went around looking for a guillotine website, and found this on the second page of http://www.metaphor.dk/guillotine/ (http://www.metaphor.dk/guillotine/)
Why does anyone make a guillotine site?
Visit the Head of this site
-
C'est guiYotine.
-
I'd say the Latin Y since it was named after the French Doctor Joseph-Ignace Guillotin, and French is one of the romantic languages derived from Latin. Just a guess though.
-
The flying guillotines scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid.
-
What? That? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_the_Flying_Guillotine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Master_of_the_Flying_Guillotine)

Yes!
For some reason that wigged me out. The deal was that you had a disc on a chain. The disc was serrated on the edges but that has nothing to do with the attack as you don't throw that into people (maybe they did but that wasn't the purpose of the weapon). The ninja would throw the disc out and yank the chain so that the disc stopped spinning right above your head. Then the disc would split and drop down...actually let me see if I can find it on youtube...
here it is (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmdP1qTjGZY)
But I don't think that master movie is what scared me I saw something else where the same weapon was being used by multiple ninjas not just one old guy. Though after watching that preview I'm definitely downloading that movie.
-
Wow...that movie looks awesome. I'm going have to see if I can track it down.
-
Was that the thing Kamal Khan's assassin tried to kill James Bond with while he was banging out the Octopussy? I think he got his Indian buddy while he was fishing.
I personally use the "gee-ya-teen" pronunciation, dating back to high school French.
-

Yes it was...and man was Octopussy a bad Bond flick. Ugh.

The name says it all

Also at this time I wish to express my displeasure at black people thinking that hanging or a noose is a sign of racism. People have been hung for over 2500 years and suddenly they think that they've cornered the market on this and it's a personal affront to their people. I vaguely remember having to do a skit or something for class and the black girl didn't want to re-enact a hanging (even though the skit called for it because whatever we were re-enacting included someone dying by hanging, but it was like in europe IIRC). So we ended up doing something different. They need to realize theres a great big world of execution out there and there role in it is highly insignificant.
-
It's true with all 'Races', which is nothing more than an illusion thought up by ignorant people who decided to take opinions over fact. The cornering of slavery, torture, harassment, and execution seems to be a common fact in the modern era.
Let us not forget that Slavery has existed since the modern era, and the only reason American Slavery affects most people today is because the slaves had no home to return to and it was the last great incident of it. In reality Slaves were of equal standing as Chinese Railroad Workers and Northern European Industrial workers in both social standing and economic possession and forecast, but the true people who got fucked over is the Native American population. In no other culture had there been a group of societies more clusterfucked not by white men with guns, but sailors with new diseases from Europe, Africa and Asia.
Then there is torture, harassment, and exectuion; which again I point to native cultures in the Americas, enemies of China and Japan, enemies of the Muslim conquests, and victims of Christian expansion and inquisitions.
It's not black vs. white, that is just an illusion. It's the ignorant versus the passive. Passivity can either be achieved through technological or a biological inferiority. I read a very interesting book called something like "Guns, Steel, and Disease: The reason Europeans dominated the Imperial Era" in which the author outlines how much Europe benefitted from it's relatively mild climate and terrain which allowed more people from more ethnic groups to consolidate and war, which always fuels technology to new levels. Not to mention the contact it had with domestic farm animals which in turn gave them diseases not found elsewhere which were the real weapons of conquest.
Ah, c'est la vie.
-
Stop with your c'est la vie, you sound like marcel from top chef!
-
C'est la vie c'est la vie c'est la vie.
WHOOSH! I'm invisible!
-
"Guns, Steel, and Disease: The reason Europeans dominated the Imperial Era".
Hey, I think Merla's read that book.
EDIT: She has and she says it's "Guns, Steel, and Germs". Was that the same book that talked about how Christopher Columbus was actually an ancestor of Doug? I'd ask her but I don't feel like calling her back.
-
"'C'est la vie,' say the old folks; goes to show you never can tell."
Slavery is not about passivity of any kind. Being enslaved has historically required subjugation as an aftereffect of conflict, with the victors including among their spoils people to contribute to the slave trade. While there are also numerous slaves who were sold into that status by their parents for the dough, slavery as spoils is the main cause historically.
I'd have to look it up, but I was reading somewhere earlier this week that slavery is not only still going strong but that there are more slaves now than at any other time in human history. Part of that said that UN workers in Sudan reported finding clear evidence of slavery, despite its banning there.
P.S. Octopussy was one of the more enjoyable Bond movies. Between dissing that and Moonraker elsewhere, Rama's further opinions of Bond films are hereby invalidated.

Slavery is about passivity, and subjudgation. After the subjudgation, the active becomes passive. Much like in the South, the only reason that the whites ruled was because of the passivity of the african slaves, who were only there because the whites who were sent there as basically slaves originally died in droves and the original natives did the same.
Plus, Claves in the Yucatan, agricultural slaves in South East Asia, and Chocolate slaves in West Africa still exist.
-
They sound delicious.
-
I'll have an order of claves and chocolate slaves for desert.
-
I'm going to bite the heads off of all my chocolate slaves just like I do to my animal cracker slaves.
-
I bite the arms off of Gummi bears, so they might suffer before they die.
-
I'm going to bite the heads off of all my chocolate slaves just like I do to my animal cracker slaves.
Talking about chocolate.... yesterday I ate HALF A POUND of almond milk-chocolate clusters. HALF A POUND. I could literally feel the saturated fat adhering itself to my hips. Disgusting. Never again. Fuck the amish market and its delicious chocolates.
-
You should've beaten them for that. It's not like they would've fought back.
-
Subjudgation!
-
Get the albino first and call him Silas.
-
LOL I've never seen an albino amish. That would be a novelty! But I would call him Casper.
-
I oddly see black albinos all the time around here...
-
LOL I've never seen an albino amish. That would be a novelty! But I would call him Casper.
Casper the Friendly Amish. Of course, if he's mean that won't work. Or could it?
-
It can. You know, like Spiderman and black spiderman(or whatever its name is)
-
Venom or Savion Glover?
-
I'm pretty sure that if an Amish girl ever gave birth to an albino, her father would promptly kill, cook, and eat it.
-
Non-violently, of course.
-
I suppose. I mean, the Amish have been known to kill every now and then. Otherwise they'd never eat.
-
Can't they pray for full stomachs? It sounds like excuses to me.
-
I don't know, but this suddenly reminded me of something.
Round these parts, we ain't got no Amish, what we got we call Hutterites. Apparently they'll pay young fellers to come around and knock up their daughters, so as to keep their gene pool from degenerating.
And while you're doing your business, the mother sits there and holds the daughter's hand, while the father looks on to make sure there's no funny business.
It's the truth, I tells ya!
-
Strange. Tell us more about these Jabba the Hutterites.
-
I dare not. Already I hear them clawing at my windows.
Also, it's all lies. Don't believe a word!
-
It's already in Wikipedia.
-
I just checked and it totally isn't.
Jezebel!
-
Ha ha, loser.
-
I didn't really chell, I just wanted you to think I checked, so really I'm still a winner.
And a winner I shall remain forevermore times infinity.
-
Or you could be lying to save face. That's all you Chineses care about, isn't it Mushu!?
-
I see the drugs have begun to take effect. All goes according to plan.
Besides, my face doesn't need saving!
-
I wouldn't be too sure about that.
-
LOL I've never seen an albino amish. That would be a novelty! But I would call him Casper.
Casper the Friendly Amish. Of course, if he's mean that won't work. Or could it?
Amish are always nice. They are that way cause they know they're all going to heaven and all us sinners will burn in hell forever and ever.
-
I know mean Amish are out there somewhere. Secluded in their self-built dens of hate.
-
Lies! All Lies! They are a myth, like Bigfoot!
-
I saw a photo of one once but it was just a person in an Amish suit.
-
I have to say this, amish people are wonderful, but they need to start wearing deodorants. Good lord everytime I go to the Reading terminal(that's the name for the amish market) it STINKS LIKE B.O. TIMES 100000000
-
The Reading Terminal? Sounds like an airport where only books land.
-
Cartoon kids flying about on giant anthropomorphic books...
-
The Reading Terminal? Sounds like an airport where only books land.
I think it was supposed to be the first market/ train stop in philly. nowadays is just a market that sells fresh(and sometimes expensive) food. most of the people that sell their stuff there are amish.
I still don't know if that smell is their natural smell or it is because they sweat while wearing those thick clothes of theirs.
-
The Reading Terminal? Sounds like an airport where only books land.
Or a spin off of Reading Rainbow because Levar Burton needed the extra cash since he can't direct anymore Enterprise episodes.
-
I am shocked that no one's mentioned that Sadam's half brother or brother in law was also hung, except his head popped off. Yes, our government instituted a hanging which resulted in a man's head popping off. WAY TO GO AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!
-
sweet!
-
I heard about that and blech. Gross.
-
I am shocked that no one's mentioned that Sadam's half brother or brother in law was also hung, except his head popped off. Yes, our government instituted a hanging which resulted in a man's head popping off. WAY TO GO AMERICA! FUCK YEAH!
Our government? I didn't know you were an Iraqi.
Who cares, fuck that guy. It was still better than his preferred methods of killing people.
-

There is no such thing as the Iraqi government. There are American diplomats and Shi'ite partisans posing as a government, but the control doesn't fall in any real government aside from our own and by Al'Sadr.
-
There is no such thing as the Iraqi government.
Tell that to Sayid!
-
Sayid is an illusion. In the new epsiodes we realize he is a failed plot device that outlived his usefulness with the discovery of the hatch.

And the goverment knows about Aliens! The Truth is Out there!
