Last night I watched the series premier of CSI: NY with much anticipation after all it stars Gary Sinise aka Lt. Dan! ^_^ aka Mr. Shaker >_< . The original CSI is one of my favorite shows though I didn’t get to view it much this past year. I thought there might be a problem with this new show when I saw the previews. They were set to this dark, sad choir music which would have worked had this been any other drama rather than CSI. I was disappointed with the opening theme music. I am not very familiar with all the songs “The Who” recorded but I know they could have picked a much better one. The other two CSI theme songs are high energy and exciting. This one is such a downer and so uninspiring. I wasn’t however about to judge the show on its opening theme. Oh how wrong I was.
I was very disappointed! I highly doubt I will waste my time with this show again. The story was horrible. A mad ex-doctor formerly from Russia was found to be the culprit behind two murdered women killed under mysterious circumstances and a third one paralysised who can only blink her eyes. His motive: he wants control. The mad scientist thing is ubiquitous and belongs on an episode of X-files and not on CSI. For a mad scientist he certainly isn’t the sharpest pencil in the box. He not only leaves a camera at one of the crime scenes but he also leaves behind his initial engraved surgical tools at another. What A Tool! Pun intended.
Sinise seems to be dragging his feet though his entire performance. Either he doesn’t want to be there or he thinks he really doesn’t have to put much effort because he’s that big a star. Note to Sinise: Your star is not big! Melina Kanakaredes (sp?) whose acting I am not at all familiar with came across as very cold. Other characters did not get enough screen time for me to form opinions about them or much less care about them. I could go on but I will not bore you with any more of this laborious review. At the end I came away thinking how I longed for that hour of my life back! This new show promised to dig deeper but it failed to even scratch the surface. Grade: D-
I also like to note that I will no longer be watching CSI: Miami. I missed the season premier but have learned that one of my favorite characters Tim “Speedy” Speedle was killed off! I never thought the show was on par with CSI anyway. I also cannot stand David Caruso but I won’t go into that here.

Oh, please - maybe for CSI: Des Moines. :P Maybe some car company had "Won't Get Fooled Again" sewed up for commercials.

Yeah I thought CSI:NY was a waste of time too. I hope Hill Harper (the black guy)quits the show or gets upgraded to CSI: Las Vegas.

Oh I've hated Miami forever. I hate that bitchy blonde (the crude dollar-store version of Without A Trace's Poppy Montgomery) and that brassy-ass black chick. And I'm not sure if I hate David Caruso more than I hate the show as a whole, but he's the bad acting, ugly, stupid, homeless-person's version of William Peterson. I hate that glasses thing he does, too. Anyone who's been fool enough to watch parts of Miami knows what I mean. It's like a chickeny headbob and then he slides on his shades like he's so damn cool. And he's a horrible actor! My god!
NY was a dissapointment. I liked the Stella character but it seemed conflicting that she was apparently suppose to be the sympathetic character for Mack (Sinise) and then later in the show, when they inform a man his girlfriend has been found dead just coldly blurts, "she's dead", like a bitch. And what's worse is that the man himself didn't care! Neither did the husband of the other victim! FTW!? Like, ho-hum, okay, that's nice. Horrible, horrible script and direction, that's all I can attribute that to.
And then they pull this patriotic "he's a real person, too" pity-play bs by making Mack's deceased wife Claire a victim of 9-11. So at the end of the show, the mad Russian scientist's surviving victim is paralyzed, forever condemned to a bed and communication by blinking, and Mack decides to lament about his own life story. FTW? She doesn't give a shit about you! She's been through hell and now she's stuck that way forever and all you can do blah blah blah about YOURSELF!?! And then this hugely contrived montagey sequence, complete with a visit to the 9-11 site, ensues where we're suppose to feel all sorry for Mack because not only is his wife dead, but she died in 9-11. Oooh, ahh. Fuck you, people!
The other people I'd like to bash, but they were completely cheated of proper screen time. The episode needed to be more of character piece for the cast, not this over-the-top boring mad scientist riddled crap. Honestly, I didn't get the feeling the cast was at fault here. I think Gary's doing the best he can with what he's been given, which is complete, utter, stinky cat crap. For being a CSI show, they're suppose to play up more of the upbeat parts of the job, not be droll, dark sobfest. The opening song was a hideous choice. I believe I read that "Behind Blue Eyes" was the one that someone involved with the show wanted, but he was overruled. "Don't Get Fooled Again" is Miami's theme.
Wow, this is a long post. Well at least I won't have to waste another hour a week. CSI and Without a Trace had awesome premieres, so I'm very happy with those two shows at least.

I agree they take on a lot more of the cases than they're suppose to, but they've never actually arrested anyone. And that strip was funny about halfway through... ...and then it stopped.

Yea, that's kinda the way VG cats is like.
It has the potential to be a good comic, but it fails. It's funny occasionally, but then it gets lame.

In the newest strip, there were at least two places it could've stopped and it would've been a little funny, but it just keeps going like a movie about a SNL character.
