Title: No Birthday this year for Mr. Emerid.
Post by: Wickedly Yours E on Aug 13, 2006, 09:58:50 PM
Since I started College, I've always tried to have my Birthday party, usually just a small get together of a few friends and family, before summer ends. I go back August 21st, so my time is short.

SO! My Grandmother has Knee Surgery, and must be put on this beast of a machine three times a day for an hour. She needs someone down in Richmond with her to help'er, and at first? My Aunt BITCH volunteers. And By her volunteering, she means her daughter, who bails on Grandma within five days, and dumps this situation on us with not even 24 Hour notice.
This was week before last, Friday. This is the last Week of it, ends the 19th. No chance of the get together happening.
I know, you might be thinking, "Well, what about the Weekends?"
WELL! Here's another situation! A family friend has been going through ahorrible divorce, and is going to move out of town. He's giving us his dogs, so we have to set up a kennel by the end of the month.
SO! With Dad, the only one with enough finesse with the Backhoe to smooth/flatten/add dirt to a slope where we plan to build the kenel, gone for this week, we'll have to get that kennel setup right quick when he gets back, killing my chances for my Birthday probably for August.
September, you say? WELL! We still have to fix the Blazer! By then, I'm sure something else will rear it's ugly head.

I mention none of this to my family, for it really is a small matter. A Personal matter for me, but one I compeltely understand foregoing considering what is happening....Which doesn't mean I like it. At all.

What about October?  A little late, but keep pushing for something.  Something's better than nothing.

And steal Halloween's thunder?

Eh my B-Day has been shit upon many a year...especially in recent history. Best course of action is to forget it about it and then guilt trip the shit out of them next year so it'll be twice as good.

I don't do guilt trips. Those tactics are reserved for Teenagers and Emo freaks. Me, I work for my stuff.

 @ Sam

With family spread far & wide over Houston on insane schedules, we long ago decided to have an annual day for everyone's birthday.  We save up the presents, go to a restaurant and have a lunch or dinner & good time for 2-3 hours.  Maybe it's not very traditional or properly sentimental, but it beats hell out of trying to get everyone on the same side of town at the same hour 8 times a year for birthdays.

Meh. We just really celebrate my birthday with some food...and presents. Not a real Get together. Just the family, Mom, Dad, Myself, Cuddles, and Darryl, and maybe our friend Bilbo. Nothing big. Not this year however.

Looking at this post again, I'm suddenly reminded of when Merla shared my birthday party, since we were all relocating north (North Texas that is) at the time.  What this has to do with the thread, I dunno.  I guess that a lot people get the old birthday shift at some point.  At least your birthday's still special to you, right E?  You could be a bitter husk like me.  "Aw fuck it, I'm old."  At least I gots me some red velvet cake!  Someone better at least bake you a cake!

Yeah, my birthday means a lot to me, cause I was born on my parents wedding Anniversary. Seriously.

Yeah that doesn't work on me either. It ends with something like this:
"So what? Go fuck yourself, I don't feel guilty one damn bit."

Ha, must be easy on the old wallet.  Doing the whole nine months backward thing, I think I was conceived on my parents anniversary.  Puke.

I like it, too, but not that much.  Just as, like, friends.

Ha ha, bookstore schedule.  I was just curious about your classes though.  Two English?  Like special Englishs or something?  I totally should've taken some guitar while the gubbment was still paying for it.  So why only three classes?

And 5 years down the road you'll remember 3 chords and one song. At least that was my experince with that. But I always wanted to play Bass anyways.

Three classes that give me enough credits to keep working at the bookstore, two that help me get one step closer to that English Degree, and enough hours at the bookstore to make it worthwhile.

Well it is good in that it's like riding a bike...Even though I havn't played in a few years now I can still pick it up and read some Tab and in 10 mins I can at least play the Bassline. But reading Tab isn't that hard.
