Ha! Was that from the pr0n version? Seriously, I don't remember any Gander Pander or Drakey Lakey. Every version I read had the chicken, hen, duck, goosey, turkey, fox, and the king. How the fuck did a porcupine get involved?
Merla wrote a Chicken Little story for school once for a children's book project, which I illustrated. It had to do with the fox being framed for the deaths of all the main characters which turned out to tragic accidents on their way to go see the king. Like a lightning bolt electrocutes one and a boulder pops out of no where and crushes another. The fox is the only one who sees all of this, but doesn't want to worry the rest of the party and says nothing. Then some snitch, Birdy Wordy, sends the fox up the creek but ends up eaten at the end of the story.

I don't like the look of those cars. Those faces just creep the shit out. Lightning McQueen sounds like a pornstar name, and the over-all theme sounds worn and old (read: done before). I avoided Monsters Stink and didn't like it when I eventually saw it, I expect it to be the same with Cars.

It was all over the place. I got the impression that about three drafts in someone told the writers they wanted to make 2 more Pirates movies instead of 1. And so after a few "Oh shits" they started to thin the script out till it stretched over two movies. They basically take an hour to sum up what they could do in half-hour. The way this all went down really reminds me of the Matrix movie. First one was great...the two sequels.... Ehhhhhhh Not so much.
But comparing Dead Man's Chest to Reloaded is really unfair to Dead Man's Chest. It has its moments. There was a lot more slap sticky stuff with Sparrow this time around. He really starts to ham it up pretty good. And there are a few too many betrayals. I mean I know these are pirates, but shit.everyone is turning on everyone constantly.
I'd give it a solid B...but after I said that the original Pirates was the best Action/Adventure movie since Raiders. It falls far short of the original.

The first pirates movie really fell apart for me in the last half hour. The ending was such a load.

They needed a wrap up scene.... problem is that they also made it an action sequence, which you shouldn't do. The final action should be the final action. If you go for one more action scene it's usually negates the big action, and it also can't compare to it either and thus doesn't hold up well. But as a whole, the first film worked really well.

I knocked a star off of it for that dumb ending. You're right about the action. The action was done with. Time to tie things up with a bow and call it a day.

What's sad is you could have done almost the same scene without the action. Could have had Jack go up to the gallows and about to get hanged, but then the Norrington comes up and unshackles Jack's chains and tells him he is going to give him one days head start. You could have even got a joke about Jack's sunken longboat in there when he asks how he is supposed to get out to the Pearl. Thus making Jack's outro relate to his intro. Which in another good rule, end where you begin.

Dude, exactly! Have you seen King Arthur? I've been wracking my brain on how I would've saved that shit and the only thing I came up with was a cameo appearance from the Knights of Justice.
To kind of go off on a tangent, I bought Zathura for 1.99 on PPV. It's a cute movie based on a book by the duder who did Jumanji (which I also liked). Five minutes into the movie, one of the kids calls the other a dick. Hilarious. Didn't really deserve the sad box office it got.
I also saw the Incredibles a couple weeks back thanks to the free preview channels on Dish. I liked it, but just the same I'm glad I didn't pay to see it.

I have seen King Arthur, in the theater no less. I actually liked it, but I think the reason a lot of people don't like it is that they expect certain things from a movie about King Arthur. So it may have been better to get away from the "This is closer to what probably would have happened" and just give the people a few things they expect. I think the only thing that would have allowed that movie to do better would have been to totally rethink the concept.
I also really enjoyed the Incredibles. One of the best Pixar has put out there. I saw it on the same Dish preview you did.

It rocks not having to pay. I don't know how it is in your area, but there's a whole new line of free channels, most of which I don't care for. There's Starz Comedy or somethin'. I was looking ahead in the schedule and I thought it was interesting that being a comedy channel, very few of those movies looked like they'd actually be funny.
And King Arthur... There's so many interesting stories behind the Arthur mythos, none of which were used to the advantage they could've been. For all of it's prancing around for being "more historically accurate" or whatever, it's more like they read some articles about recent thoughts and finds and threw them all together in a mishmash. I also like how the previews and various tv material made Guinevere to be this badass warrior queen, but she was just an annoying, snarling painted monkey. As cute as Knightly is, she made an ugly Guinevere. And why the hell would you kill off Lancelot? I think "King Arthur" would've been better off as its own concept instead of bringing in names without any thought. As a regular popcorn film with good acting and beautiful scenery, etc., it's decent. As a King Arthur movie, which it still is, it sucked badly.

I don't know...I took a lot of the preview channels off the list cause the ploy worked and we bought the next package so we had all the channels but EncoreW. Which oddly I thought I'd watch channels like Fuse and G4 a lot...and I've really ended up watching Toon Disney the most. (Next to FSN, but only cause they have Cards Baseball on there)

You see that's exactly what I'm talking about. You expected more out of a King Arthur movie and thus where let down by it. I think that's how most people felt, which explains its box office. Me I was going "Oh this when the Saxons invaded Britain, this is the beginnings of what would one day be the British Empire." but I'm a history buff. Most people where saying "Why does Merlin look like Ted Nugent, why isn't Lancelot boning Guinevere, where is Camelot?!?!!" Which are all things you expect from a movie with title King Arthur, so you can't really blame them. I think the movie would have worked better as a historical drama like Gladiator or Braveheart and cut all ties to the King Arthur name.

I think it did ok as a history piece. Not outstanding, but ok. There was enough fact in it for it to be passable to me. Course it's obvious I liked it a little more then you did. It does have a slight case of Movie Identity crisis. It doesn't know what it wants to be. Is it a romance, is it an action slash and hack flick, is it a grand mythical epic? It tries to be all three and mixing those didn't work that well.

For historical Arthur, I think Parke Godwin nailed it in Firelord and Beloved Exile. Don't think either would translate well to film, though.

Yeah I agree. Really, given the setting you expect a lot of swordplay, which wouldn't give you a lot of time for the romance angle. I mean you could do it...but.....And the use of King Arthur makes a actual historcal flick not really the way to go. And it didn't seem they had the budget to do a Epic, So Hack and Slash would seem the logical way to go.

The romance was lame anyway. Kiera and Clive, ZERO chemistry. Almost as bad as Pride and Prejudice, and that was suppose to have romance. I even think Kiera and her Mr. Darcy are or did date IRL.

Starz Comedy has to be one of the unfunniest self-proclaimed comedy channels ever. Just sitting through most of Bewitched was painful, and yet I have to see what happens at the end... So far I've laughed twice. Okay, maybe just one laugh and one titter.

I don't think I've sat through a single movie on that channel yet. IN fact the only "preview" channel I watch regularly is History International...and that's only cause they don't show Modern Marvels 5 times a day like regular History Channel does.

The Encore channels were decent. Starz Comedy is a giant steaming pile. Why the hell did they make a Bewitched movie about people coming out in a Bewitched tv-pilot? Whoever thought that up needs to be shot. What a waste of time, but it's not like I was gonna do anything productive at that moment anyway. But jeez, "Guess who"? "Ernest Goes to Africa"? What a shitty channel.

Not nearly as good. And I've even been a little hard on Scared Stupid because of it's "One take" kids, a problem that "Goes to Camp" and "Saves Christmas" doesn't have....and "Goes to Jail" didn't really have too much Kid Support. Other then Africa those are the only Ernest movies I've seen. I know there are a few more like "Ernest Goes to the Army." and "Ernest Goes to School" and a few more that I've never heard of.

Someone rented Scared Stupid, I remember that much. I think I may have seen Go To Jail on tv and part of Saves Christimas. I had no idea there was so much Ernest. They might as well exhume Jim Varney and do "Ernest Rises From the Dead".
