Rock Star is back, along with Brooke Burke and Dave Navarro. Gone are INXS. This time Tommy Lee (Motley Crue), Gilby Clarke (Guns and Roses) and Jason Newstead (Metallica) are looking for a sucker to front their new band, the unimaginatively named Supernova. Joining them on the judges panel is some femmey producer prick, but he doesn't talk enough to matter. As you know I'm a Rock Star fan, so here's my rantings, probably only to read in their entirety by E and people who can't get to sleep and are bored.
Storm Large - Started us off. No Jordis Unga, who began the show with Baba O'Reilly, but she did another Who song. I think she'll be around a while.
Ryan Star - It's the girl from American Idol.... ha ha, or not. He does "Iris", which he sings well, but it just creeped me out that we never saw him look done at the adoring women. Dude, don't be gay.
Toby Rand - All right, a hot Aussie. I hope he sticks around.
Patrice - She sang "Somebody to Love", which was done better last season by Heather Luttrell. I hope they don't recycle too many songs from last season. Is it too much to ask for some Deep Purple or some AC/DC. Hell, do "White Rabbit" if you're jonesing for Grace Slick so bad.
These first four were more or less solid, so I don't expect them to go any time soon. These next few people actually began to put me to sleep, and I actually fast forwarded through their performances.
Magni - "I will show you how the Iceland we are rock." Heh, no I kid. His cover of "Satisfaction" didn't give me any satisfaction. I wanted more energy, more crowd interaction and it just wasn't there. He was just there and singing. Just the same, I hope he doesn't leave first. He should get another chance. I can't help but think his remark about being so recognizable in Iceland didn't help him get any votes.
Zayra - She's pretty and Latina and lives in Texas. She really didn't bring anything with her song choice, Evanensence-- bleh!, and unlike Marty Casey and "Hit Me Baby One More Time" she didn't improve this song like someone better would've. It still felt very pop and not very rock. Maybe it'll improve next week, but I honestly don't see her lasting very long.
Jenny - She did a Nickleback song. They all sound the same anyway, so it doesn't matter what song it was. I felt like I was watching an American Idol audition. Worse yet, her face reminds me of horse-faced Phucking Heiress-Whore. Seriously, am I suppose to picture this performing with Tommy Lee and Gilby Clarke? I also don't see her sticking around.
Josh - Did some Black Crowes song. I wasn't digging it, but maybe it was the song itself. I didn't find him particularly memorable.
Matt - "Yellow". I don't know what to think about this guy. My impression is that he's this season's MiG in that people will see and hear him and think "how adorable", carrying him with votes to end whether he's the worthiest to be there or not. I liked this performance, and I see him lasting a while given that he follows Dave's advice and goes for something edgier.
Dilana - "Lithium". When I first saw her I thought she looked kinda cool. Nice, hard look to her and I liked her accent (born in Africa, probably South Africa). I think she makes the third person on the show who now makes their home in Texas. She got on stage with her creepy hood and her man voice and I was just WTF? At this point, I was groggy and this actually made me sit up and pay attention. Her stare was creepy and then she wouldn't freakin' move. But I loved it! She was awesome, her pressence was amazing, her voice was powerful, and she just went manic at the end of the song. It said on her bio that her influence was Tina Turner and it shows. I completely expect her to last to the very end. She could take the win. Thank you Dilana for waking me up.
Dana - This season's Jordis, she's the cute youngster with huge voice. A good pick to come after Dilana, as I think anyone else would've come off really looking like they suck compared to Dilana. She didn't. Sang "I'm the Only One", which Deanna did last season. Really, really good. Her and Dilana will probably be the last females standing. I just wonder with her admission of being sheltered if 1) she'll last the contest or 2) if she wins, she'll last the tour. I don't think she'll win though. I also worry nerves and such will get the best of her and like Jordis, she'll start fading out in the ending weeks.
Phil - Performed "Cult of Personality", which was the same song Ty Taylor opened with last season. He didn't do a bad job, he just wasn't very memorable here. He didn't bring anything to the show. They ragged on him about his song choice. I think he deserves another chance.
Jill - The short one. I don't care for her for whatever reason, but she has a lot of talent. She should make it far if not to the end.
Chris - Performed "Roxanne", which Suzie McNeil did Week 3. After seeing his performance, I dubbed him this season's Daphna Dove. Lots of personality, style, and good on the eyes, but they sing in like one key. It was like karaoke. I felt bad for him because they showed the reactions from the judges, and they almost looked like they were laughing. Though I'd like him to have a chance to improve, he already looks like the first casualty of show. It's bad enough they laughed, but when one of the judges tells you you "sucked", it's never a good sign.
Lukas - I love "Rebel Yell" but I wasn't digging this. Apparently people loved him, so I doubt he'll be going anywhere anytime soon. Maybe by then he'll grow on me.
End show preliminary results: Bottom Three: Chris, Phil, Magni. At this point, I went "who's Phil". Not surprising. I expected Jenny to be there, but these guys were probably worse, so it'll probably remain this way. Unless Chris pulls a rabbit out of his ass, I see him going home. If this elimination is like the others, maybe we'll get an encore from Dilana or Lukas (since the judges practically came on the guy, they liked him so much).
The next show is an hour long, and that worries me if it's just an elimination show. Maybe since all the Rock Star mansion eps are online, it'll give us more insight into their new homelife.

Oh and Rock Star website. It looks pretty but it loads like a freakin' tortoise. My God. And the CBS official website is about as useful as a straw on a hamburger.
I've been going to this fansite to read stuff. It sounds like they ripped off a bunch of the official site, but it loads faster so too bad.

So gay that it makes a trip through the Liberace museum seem straight by comparison.

Since I have other people's posted images shut off, I'm just gonna assume by the image name that you're being a troll as usual.
-
Meeeh. This group has not impressed me thus far. I missed the first half hour. Dilana's voice is good, but it might be too....Unique for "Supernova". God such a horrible name.

Jesus...I hope none of you are billy goats in this here Thrad.

I hope you realize by now that's an intentional misspell.

Thank God for you, E. I have to say even though I watched it, I wasn't as moved as I was by the first group either. The RS:INXS bunch was a fun, immediately likable bunch. I also tend to think this group suffered a bit by not letting us get to see them and their reactions when they arrived at the mansion. I recorded it and watched it since I technically slept through the first half hour (not on purpose, ha ha), and let me tell you that forward button was getting a lot of pressin'. I think you may have gotten a better impression if you had seen the first half hour. Aside from Dilana and Dana, the latter part of the show is when the talent started becoming questionable and the people forgetable.
BTW, I have you heard Jordis' new version of "Try Not"? http://www.jordismusic.com/ (http://www.jordismusic.com/)

I have not heard Jordis' latest stuff. I'm waiting mostly for a CD due to the Dial Up = Slow Download setup I have. ...Though the bits I'm hearing off the site sound very nice. Makes me wonder even more how JDICK FORTUNE won.
I dunno. These guy's sound really....less impressive thus far. Few Potentials, but as a whole roughly mediocre. MAYBE as the show goes on, their voices will develop into better stuff, kind of like how Marty was kind of a frenetic screamer at the start of Rockstar: INXS, but really turned into an awesome performer and singer. My bro bought his Album, thus I have a copy, and I gotta say? Very nice. Couple songs I'm not terribly fond of, but overall very nice for a first CD.
Likes on the CD:
Casualty - This SHOULD be made into an Action Movie Theme. Definitely. The lyrics are totally made for it. "Persistance, Resistance, One man can make the difference!" I put this as a fight song on my 360 when playing Fight Night Round 3.
Hold On - Not bad. If, as I am with Casualty, I were to assign this to a Movie, I'd say a Romantic Comedy. A decent one, with some slapstick. Not like While You Were Sleeping romantic comedy, but something with a bit more action.
Trees - Honestly I prefered it Live, and Acoustic. Recorded as thus, it's all right, but I do like the Live version because of the sheer...I dunno...energy you can get by watching him perform it. Maybe I'm just spoiled cause I saw'em perform it "live" on TV. If I hadn't seen it live, I'd probably like this more, but it's not really a fave on the CD. Friggin' Awesome Guitar Solo though.
Rain on the Brain - MEEH. Not one I like personally. S'all right, but I'm not putting it on any 360 playlist, is all I'm saying.
Tunnel - Pop Rock Creepy. Like he's stalking someone, so Again, not a favorite on here.
Eyes Can't See - Another Action Movie theme contender. Good Fight song, but not something I'd listen to otherwise.
The Riddle - I like this one. Very multi-applicable. I identify with it, especially as of recently with my failed attempt to date a gal. Dunno why it strikes a chord with that particular situation, but it does. "There's got to be something more to the Riddle......Trying not to understand...."
Clinic - Yet ANOTHER action one! Far too many on this CD for conventional tastes. This one reminds me of him early on in Rockstar, before he started to...what's the word....pace himself?
Call of Distress - Teen Dramedy theme. Not one I like at all.
Straight as an Arrow - This would be a Car chase theme. Another one I'm not fond of.
Clouds - This one I like too. Along the Veins of The Riddle. Slower paced, much more likable to me.
Impromptu Marty Casey CD review I know, but I review it because:
Not a one of the most recent Rockstar Contestants sound as good as he does on this CD In my opinion. Not yet anyway.

As I watch tonights episode:
LUKAS. ANSWER. THE FUCKING. QUEESSTIIOONNN FUCKER.
He's starting to look like the JD of this season.
Update: Dilana on the Encore....A Little TOO manic for my tastes, but she's got a very subtle, yet very STRONG stage presence. What with the glare...
-
Trees - Honestly I prefered it Live
I have the same problem with Pretty Vegas. The very first time JD performed that on TV... nothing can touch that. What ended up on the CD is crap.
I'm still waiting for Tara and Suzie to put their CDs. I'd love to say I'd buy them, but just the same I'd like to hear more in the way of samples, especially from Suzie. If every song on her CD is like "Soul Life", I may pass. What I've heard from Tara sounds good, as it does with Jordis. Anyone else, I don't know. I don't really follow anyone else. I was mildly interested in Marty's CD but I read a really scathing review about it so I decided to hold off on that.
As I watch tonights episode:
LUKAS. ANSWER. THE FUCKING. QUEESSTIIOONNN FUCKER.

Ha! Yeah. I know what you mean. As far as his "talent" goes, I'm not seeing it myself. Very balsy of him to tell them all most of them sucked. In the end, I think this only endeared him to Supernova.
Update: Dilana on the Encore....A Little TOO manic for my tastes, but she's got a very subtle, yet very STRONG stage presence. What with the glare...
I agree. I can see how that could be overdone and hurt her in future performances.
I can't believe Matt and his purty eyes went home. I was surprised his rendition of "Yellow" made the bottom three with Jenny around. And I really thought he was safe until he unleased his song choice on Supernova: Duran Duran's "Planet Earth". Just the look on Tommy Lee and them's faces said it all. OMG. I love that song but you don't sing Duran Duran to friggin' Tommy Lee. He needed to go classic, like Chris did with the Doors.
I don't think Phil has a whole lot of time left unless the others really mess up. I don't know what the group sees in him. He's mumbling most of the time! Even when he's not singing.
What surprised me the most: Their songs were ones that were already picked for them to choose from. Why are they giving them Evanesance and Nickelback songs? I think more than their actual performances, the fact they had slower, decisively pop songs hurt some of the contestants. Don't go around emphasizing song choice when you give them crap songs.
-
I hope you realize by now that's an intentional misspell.
Yes I do. But some of us just arn't as "Street" as you are, and are forced to contiune to use that ban of all existance. The letter E.
-
Yes I do. But some of us just arn't as "Street" as you are, and are forced to contiune to use that ban of all existance. The letter E.
Not as forced as you think since you didn't use it at the end of "bane".
-
I must be Street then too. Now I can use inane spellings as well! Huzzah!
-
Lack of punctuation only strengthens your cred, G!
-
And how! I'm going to tag something right now while it's still fresh in my mind....
-
Stay. Away. From my. Barn. You Bastard.
Dilana...needs to control the manicness more. The First performance it was a little wild, but followed the music pretty well. The Encore was way too spastic. Once she starts toning it down? I think she'll be a big contender.
As is, I'm surprised Nova didn't send all three of the bastards home after their song performances last night. Is it me, Or was the House band just DROWNING out their voices?
-
The house band really seemed to ham up the whole "ba ba ba-ba, ba ba ba ba-ba" thing in "Planet Earth". I really didn't listen to Chris or Phil's performances that much though. With Chris, I was just eager to see who else made bottom three, but with Phil I just didn't feel like hearing it.
-
Honestly, I didn't give two shits about those three. Der Women seem to be the most talented.....
AND ON THAT NOTE.....I'm glad there's some nice eye candy this season, don't get me wrong, but am I worng, or does it seem like out of the 14 people, mostly it's women? Whereas last year there was more guys than gals? I'm just saying....
-
Actually, RS:INXS had more women. Jordis, Daphna, Dana, Tara, Jessica, Heather, Deanna, and Suzie. 8 out of 15.
Supernova has Dilana, Dana, Storm, Jill, Jenny, Patrice, and Zayra. 7 out of 15.
I'm thinking it feels like more women because the guys this season are mostly forgetable. Off the top of your head, do you even remember what Ryan Star sounds like? Or Josh Logan? I don't even remember who Josh Logan is.
-
That's a good and very logical point.
-
I still don't remember who Josh Logan is.
-
Don't know, Don't care.
-
It won't matter. He should be going home soon enough.
-
So, in conclusion, I should watch this show?
-
Yes.
Read some spoilers on the rockband.com forums. Toby, Dilana, and Lukas apparently rock it on the Tuesday show (which is taped Sundays). Everybody else got mixed reactions. The song list:
Magni – My Generation (The Who)
Jenny Galt – Tainted Love (Soft Cell)
Jill Giola – Violet (Hole)
Zayra Alvarez – You Really Got Me (The Kinks)
Chris Pierson – Take Me Out (Franz Ferdinand)
Dilana – Ring of Fire (Johnny Cash)
Josh Logan – With Arms Wide Open (Creed)
Phil Ritchie – If You Could Only See (Tonic)
Storm Large – Surrender (Cheap Trick)
Patrice Pike – Heart-Shaped Box (Nirvana)
Lukas Rossi – Don’t Panic (Coldplay)
Ryan Star – Jumpin’ Jack Flash (The Rolling Stones)
Dana Andrews – Born to Be Wild (Steppenwolf)
Toby Rand – Somebody Told Me (The Killers)
-
...Dilana....With...a Johnny Cash song? This has potential....
"I'm going down down down...into a ring of fire...."
-
If by potential you mean Johnny comes back from the dead and beats her to pulp for ruining his song, then yes it does.
-
Actually.....I think she did really well. She definitely changed it up.....
-
I liked it, too. Very dark.
Magni -- Improved. I liked it.
Jenny -- Not impressed. She sounded constipated through part of it.
Jill -- was kinda screaming, but I still enjoyed it. Marty liked to scream some, too. It can work. Didn't mind the dress either.
Zayra -- Seriously, what the hell is she doing here? She can't sing and as it turns out hasn't listened to any of their music?!
Chris -- He only sings in two notes. He needs to go. Matt was robbed.
Josh -- Again, not memorable to me. Someone on another board said he was "gayish" which I find hilarious.
Phil -- Jason Newstead was right. If you close your eyes, he's actually quite good.
Storm -- Is a bit theatrical with the eyes. The voice is a damn powerhouse. She's gonna last a while.
Patrice -- Liked Jordis' better, but she's good.
Lukas -- Better than last week, but I still don't really care for him.
Ryan -- Not riveting, not very interesting. (But not terrible like Chris.)
Dana -- Wonderful singer, still too girl-next-door. Meh.
Toby -- Toby's hawt, but I liked Ty's performance of this better.
The bottom three had Jill, Chris, and Zayra. I have a feeling Jill will climb out and squirmy Phil or Ryan will be in that spot. Jenny and Josh will probably, regretably, stick around a little while longer. Maybe we'll luck out and get a Chris/Zayra double elim.
-
I think Dilana will get the encore. AGAIN.
-
I could see them giving it to Toby. I think Lukas will probably get it, since he seems to be Tommy Lee's darling.
-
Supernova, HOW DARE YOU KEEP ZAYRA AFTER SHE MURDERED THE KINKS TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW, HOW DARE YOU. At least Chris is gone, I guess.
-
Who got the encore?
-
Zayra sucks. She's destroyed the song twice now. Der fork.
-
Toby got teh encore. Unfortunately, like Dilana's encore, it was missing that something special from the previous performance. I hope the theme for this season won't be encores that aren't as good and songs that get repeated too many times.
I think I know what this show really needs: A triple elimination. It would shock people, get them talking, and more importantly, it would pull out many of the weeds. Ryan, Phil, Josh, Jenny, Zayra. Even poor Dana, who is clearly never gonna be what this band wants or Jill, who I like but don't see going the distance. Any three of them. We'd make so much more progress, and leave more room for the people who actually have a shot. Elimination shows need to go back to a 30 min. They aren't adding anything with that extra time. Just a lot of ego pandering and "hope I didn't hert yer feelings" crap.
I miss the House portions of the show. I can't watch them online no matter how hard I try, which is really annoying. At least if they aired them at 12 in the afternoon on VH1 I could record it and see it later.
I take back what I said about having to watch this show, Sam. Wait about a month and then chell it out. Most of the no-hopers should already be gone by then.
Fun trivia I read on another board: Lukas Rossi apparently sang on the theme to "Beyblade".
-
To add to my previous post, I've noticed I'm using the Forward button on my DVR overtime. I even jump into the show fifteen minutes late so I have the option of moving forward when something bugs me. I never did that once with RS:INXS.
-
JIll did impress me with the "Bring me to Life" song. She sung it a hundred times better than Zayra did.
-
I really liked it, too. That's the caliber of performance that's suppose to be the norm on this show dammit. And it's in short supply this season.
-
I think the reason is that these people are still "raw". The First season had a lot more savvy to the contestants, more experience I think. These seem like a bunch of newbies in terms of quality.
-
Another thing that occured to me. They need a stylist bad. Last year we had that Ellie May chick and the fashion was off the hook. I even saved several pictures of the rockers not because I liked the people but because I liked the damn clothes. Nothing here is coming close. Most of these people are obviously dressing themselves. No stylist would've given Dilana something with a hood three nights in a row or would've approved Storm's pigtails. The guys clothes is boring. Dana raided her trashy sister's closet. These people need help, stat!
-
That Zajra bitch needs to go! Thank god for DVR! I hate to think I have to suffer some more.
-
Yeah, good thing we ran a few minutes behind with the elimination show. "You really got me-- [groan] You really got me-- [squeak] [fish hands] You really got me! [fart]"
-
Songs for Tuesday, ripped off from rockband forums:
Patrice – Helter Skelter (The Beatles)
Josh – Come As You Are (Nirvana)
Storm – Just What I Needed (The Cars)
Lukas – Let’s Spend the Night Together (The Rolling Stones)
Jill – All Right Now (Free)
Ryan – Fortunate Son (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Phil w/ Jason Newstead on bass – White Rabbit (Jefferson Airplane)
Dana – It’s My Life (Bon Jovi)
Toby – Runaway Train (Soul Asylum)
Magni – Plush (Stone Temple Pilots)
Zayra – Everybody Hurts (R.E.M.)
Jenny – Drive (Incubus)
Dilana – Zombie (The Cranberries)
I have to admit my unfamiliarity with some of these songs. SA, STP, Incubus I'm looking at you. I just think I've just plain forgotten some of these. Maybe once I hear them. "Zombie" though I love. I'm really looking forward to that one.
-
THere's potential in that lineup. I wonder if Zayra's gonna murder that R.E.M song...
-
Word is she doesn't. Even though she didn't exactly murder that Evanesance song, it still didn't sound very good. Guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow.
-
Didn't care for Patrice's performance this week. She has this noticable twang in everything she sings, which I don't care for either. Josh was not as bad as I heard. He still needs to bring the rock. Storm was decent, but I'm still waiting for the Storm from the Ima Yora file on You Tube to come out and play. (If you haven't seen this, you need to!)
And Lukas. Meh. This guy has a lot of love at the various Rock Star forums, and I don't see any of it. Being that he's Canadian and formerly homeless, he's been made out to be our JD for the season. Except I actually liked JD from his second performance. It's been three for Lukas Rossi and I'm as cold as ever. He still sounds like he sings with a sock in his mouth.
I actually prefer Jill's weird Violet scream-fest from last week to what we got today. I found Dana so out of place, I think the time for her to leave is nigh. Toby and Magni were kinda boring this go. Jenny's take on Drive was bordering on cutesy.
I think I suffered with overexpectation on Dilana. I loved Lithium, I liked Ring of Fire, but I wasn't feeling Zombie. I felt she changed it for the worse, then Tina Turner'd it up, which isn't a compliment in this case. And just when it started getting good, she brought out an irritating tambourine and killed the moment for me! Not bad, I was just hoping for better.
Zayra. I REALLY want her to go home. She kills my ears. She sings with that weird accent. She looked 12 in that dress. Everybody Hurts? Yes, me. I hurt. However, I doubt she'll be leaving us anytime soon.
Oh yeah, and Phil. He killed White Rabbit. Awesome. Why didn't he do this the last two weeks. I think he'll get the encore.
Bottom three were Ryan, Jenny, and Dana at the end of show, but I'm thinking Zayra will be taking Ryan's place by tomorrow.
-
I don't like Zayra. At All. She's got this arrogane where she really has no reason for it. And she sucks wang. Literally. THat mouth of hers? Big enough to swallow a BASEBALL. Which is what she SHOULD BE USING IT FOR INSTEAD OF THIS.
I liked Dilana and Phil. Top notches for them tonight.
-
OK, now that the sotball season is over, my TUesdays opened up. I'll try to catch this next week.
-
Sotball? Do you throw drunken bums around?
-
I love sotball.
-
By the time the game's almost over and the gigantic cooler full of firm-provided beer is gone, it essentially IS sotball.
-
Elimination show: Jenny is gone. I will only miss her taste in boots. Dana was improved if still not awkward but I thought Josh was horrible. Did you watch it, E? It sounded like he was slurring words and spitting into his mike all through Heart-Shaped Box.
-
Yah, But that might've been an effect of the house Band, once again, Drowning out the singer. I thought his performance was much better than his other one this week.
I'm still shocked that the Zayra chick wasn't up on the block....My only consolation is that she will be sooner rather than later.
Also, I didn't agree with who got the Encore. Magni....meh. He was average, to me. Phil or Dilana should've gotten it, but oh well.
-
It looked like he was singing through clenched teeth most of the song. He certainly didn't look relaxed or like he was enjoying himself.
-
Do you mean Josh (the duder singing the Nirvana song) or Magni (the bald Icelandic guy with the alien glasses)? I heard Josh was doing that because a vocal coach had told him to. Doesn't mean it sucked any less though. I think Supernova should've spared us and done a triple elimination. None of those three are gonna win. Quit chewing up time.
-
They can at least keep the blonde around for lookin at a few more weeks.
-
Ha ha, that was one of my thoughts, too. Her body was nice to look at, even if she was so obviously wrong for the band. Josh just does nothing for me whatsoever. Not to mention his seriel killer smile creeps me out.
-
I don't find myself attracted to any of them.
-
That was me. --Merla
-
Fuck you, Guest.
Something I read on another forum: Only Toby, Patrice, and Dana are single.
Matt Hoffer's (a.k.a. First Dude voted out) top 4 according to his MySpace: Lukas, Dilana, Toby, Storm, w/ Josh and Patrice close behind.
-
Tu gata hijas, Nuri!
-
Don't make me ban you for trolling.
-
That sounds like spanish, but it does not make sense......
-
Don't worry. Most of her English doesn't make sense either.
-
Ha, I told her so! And she was even repeating it to me today, because she thought it was so damn brilliant. WAW-WAW-WAW.
-
Stolen from rockband forums, this week's songs:
Lukas – Bittersweet Symphony (The Verve)
Zayra – Call Me (Blondie)
Dana – About a Girl (Nirvana)
Patrice – Remedy (The Black Crowes)
Toby – White Wedding (Billy Idol)
Magni – Heroes (David Bowie)
Ryan – I Alone (Live)
Jill – Brown Sugar (The Rolling Stones) - with Gilby Clarke on guitar
Phil – One Headlight (The Wallflowers)
Dilana – Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper) - with the House Band's Jim solo on acoustic guitar
Josh – No Rain (Blind Melon)
Storm – Anything Anything (Dramarama)
I can just imagine Lukas's song: "It's a bittersweet rawr rwar rwar rwar~~" He sings like Scooby Doo with very few real words. Can't wait til Tuesday.
-
“Tu gata hijas” is an insult. Literally translated “your cat daughters” (Nuri’s has two cat daughters). People are pissed off at each other and will yell “Tu madre!” (Your mother), “Tu padre!” (Your father), “Tu abuelita!” (Your Grandmother), or some other relative of the person being yelled at. Say I cut someone off on the highway and he rolls down his window and yells at me “Tu madre!” He is telling me “your fucking mother” or “fuck your mother.” The grammatically correct way to say to the insult is “Chinga, Tu madre!” Somewhere along the line the Chinga (fuck) got dropped. At least here in south texas it did. I am assuming it didn’t in Latin America because Faye didn’t recognize it and besides the Spanish she speak is proper.
As for you Rama everytime you seem to manage to get in my good graces you say something stupid to piss me off. Bugger off Bitach!
-
Aahh now it makes sense! Wouldn't it be then "tus gataS hijas"? Cause you know, it's all plural.
I know "chinga" but only because that is probably one of the most used mexican insults.
In Peru, instead of saying "chinga tu madre" we say "concha de tu madre" or the more ghetto-ed version, "conchetumare" :P That's my favorite one!
-
Damn it you are right! "Tus gatas hijas!" I forget that you have to pluralize the pronoun as well as the adjective in spanish.
-
Lukis I missed.
Zayra was horrible. Flailing around on stage like a marionette operated by an epileptic in a bizarre outfit. DIdn't sing well either.
Dana rocked. Period.
I don't remember anything about Patrice's performance, but I thought it was hilarious haw Navarro dressed her down afterwards.
Toby did a passable job. He picked it up towards the end.
guy #1 who insulted spandex girl had good vocals and a fair performance.
guy #2 had fair vocals and a good performance.
Jill was ok. nothing spectacular.
Phil was ok during the harder parts of the song, but weak on the slow parts. And I was distracted by skinny he is, I thought he was going to break in half.
Dilana picked a wierd song and has a voice deeper than mine, but it was the vocals were amazing and I came away with a bit of a chubby.
Josh had good vocals, but he just doesn't look like he belongs up there with the other guys that'll be in the band. He's too pretty and happy looking.
Storm did an amaing job, but she frightened me a few times with crazy eyes.
-
I luv Storm's crazy eyes. Everything I read about her, a good percentage of people would be ready to jump on the Storm Love-Train if it weren't for the eyes. I need a copy of that song now.
Lukas was okay.
I loved Zayra's slutty-spaceman get-up. Too bad she has this need to open her mouth.
Dana was cool.
Patrice was decent, though I felt bad that they ripped her a new one. Apparently she was sulking the rest of the night. I hope she really shows them next week. I love Aussie Toby, but he kinda bores me. So does Magni. All three of these people are good, I'm just not particularly excited by any of them.
I thought Ryan did really really well, but just as the song ended, the local affiliate here cut to commerical. What did they say to him, anyone catch it?
Jill was okay. Did you see her throw the mic stand? She apparently tossed it right back into Gilby's hand. A guitar player's HAND. He wasn't happy about that. Probably only felt uncomfortable with the grinding cause his wife and daughter were present.
Phil and Josh were yawners for me. I just skipped ahead. Maybe later I'll go back and watch their performances, but I wasn't in the mood tonight.
Dilana was okay. I want to see something different from her.
Storm on Anything Anything was pure hotness. And she's 37 years old. Damn! Talk about aging gracefully.
-
I thought Ryan did really really well, but just as the song ended, the local affiliate here cut to commerical. What did they say to him, anyone catch it?
It was all complimentary, if I remember correctly. I don't remember any specifics
-
As for you Rama everytime you seem to manage to get in my good graces you say something stupid to piss me off. Bugger off Bitach!
Ah come on there Merla.....I'm just messing with ya. If I didn't like you, I wouldn't mess with ya. Hell I even thought about letting you have my Sigma Six Spirit when you were going on about wanting him. Don't be all like that baby....Why don't you just make fun of my spelling or call me a white devil or something and we will all feel a whole a lot better.
-
I thought Ryan did really really well, but just as the song ended, the local affiliate here cut to commerical. What did they say to him, anyone catch it?
It was all complimentary, if I remember correctly. I don't remember any specifics
That's all right. Thanks. At least they didn't cut into Ryan's performance, but it's still annoying though. "Blah blah KENS news at 10 blah". Bastards.
-
Why is Ken so special and why does he think his news should be trumpetted at the expense of other programming?
-
I don't think KENS is a who.....but a what.
-
KENS - http://www.mysanantonio.com/ (http://www.mysanantonio.com/)
I don't like to vote a lot, especially this season with their website and everything catering to the faster connections. I gave Storm, Dilana, and Ryan each one vote. Maybe two for Storm. And I tossed Patrice a pity-vote.
-
(http://www.jwccpa.com/images/foghorn.gif)
Ah say, It was a joke, son. A joke!
(edit: damnit, I didn't even chell to see where it was)
-
You want to go to their shitty website, you know you do!
-
Fucking Supernova! They kicked off Phil and kept Senorita Spacefreak. Apparently word is they booted him because he gave an interview where he stated he only wanted to be on for exposure for his band Lennex. WHO CARES!? This is a side project for the rest of them, too, unless I'm suppose to be believe Jason just happens to have fifty Vovoid (or whatever) shirts in his closet. They're full of crap. Phil sang the shit and balls out of that song and they still kept the Bjork/Bai Ling hybrid joke that is Zayra. Zayra even did another slow song, the one thing that shouldn't have been able to save her no matter what! CRAP! FOUL!
EDITED: There's big-mouth's article: http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a.../607070304/1024 (http://www.delmarvanow.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060707/LIFESTYLE/607070304/1024)
-
Patrice and Zayra both did great jobs. Maybe they should just tell them the're going home every week so they step it up a notch.
Phil did too.
-
(http://www.jwccpa.com/images/foghorn.gif)
Ah say, It was a joke, son. A joke!
(edit: damnit, I didn't even chell to see where it was)
That can't be right.... jokes are supposed to be funny.
-
...I dislike Zayra's vocal style so much....That being said, on the results show, she did pretty decently on that song.
I still hate her voice though.
And WTF with that chick? "Everything's been done in Rock N Roll?" HAH!NOT SOMETHING TO SAY AT ALL! Seems like when she's backed into a corner her sexy leg goes right into her mouth.
-
I cannot believe they have kept that crazy woman around. My question is who is she sleeping with? Is it A) Jason Newstead (B-) Tommy Lee or C) BOTH!
-
Even if Z did do decently (which I disagree w/, but I see many people liking it like E does), she STILL did a slow tune. She already did that with the REM thing. She's suppose to bring the rock, and last night Phil brought it. Not her.
-
Oh, she does slow crap like that every week? Then yes, she should have been gone.
-
Agreed. Though I did like how she did that song, I believe she really needs to get booted out. Especially over Phil. You could see everyone was like "WTF!".
-
Saving you a trip to the Rockband forums:
Even with a good half hour of dialogue cut -- the Gilby/Jill sparring, for example, went on at least twice as long as shown -- you got the gist of it. But I know there's one blank that needs filling right now:
After the Hatchet Man chopped Phil, you all saw him standing there saying his final words to them. What you didn't see was Dave suddenly piping up with "Do you get newspapers up at the Mansion, Phil?"
"No."
"Well," says Dave, "we do. Let me read you something." He whips out a newspaper and proceeds to read from an interview with Phil, in which Mr. Ritchie states that the reason he’s doing the show is to promote himself and his own band. What’s more, he doesn’t even like Supernova’s music!
Phil is taken aback when confronted by this, but does admit that he didn’t like “the Supernova riff” (or something like that). Tommy, meanwhile, looks like he’s just been stabbed in the heart. (You can see a shot like this in the show.) He turns to the other Rockers and warns ALL of them NOT to make the band or their work look bad with the media or in the press. Gilby then tells Phil that Tommy was absolutely devastated to be letting him go and that he hadn't wanted to do it.
Dumb of Phil to do, yes. But very, VERY bitchy of Dave and Supernova. They should've confronted him at the mansion about it or something. The point of elimination shows is that you sing to save yourself. They have shown that no matter how much you put into your performance, they'll disregard the concept of the show and chop you for any bitchy reason they want. The highroad would've been confront him quietly and to let that article die a silent death.
-
Screw that, if he wasn't there for the right reasons, a little talk isn't going to change it; he's not going to suddenly dump his band and be a solid member of Supernova. I don't see it as being bitchy at all. These are auditions. They're a public spectacle and not normal auditions, but they're still auditions. When somone says or does something that makes it clear they wouldn't fit with the band and wouldn't be a good choice, you tell them to get out.
Phil: "I don't like Gilby's hair" = bitchy reason
Phil: "I'm not here to be part of Supernova and I don't like their music" = not bitchy reason
-
That article came out on the 7th, plenty time for Phil to have been called on it. A bunch of the others have their own bands, and are probably in it for similar if not the same reasons. People in last season's INXS show also said similar crap and I thought INXS handled that easily and maturely: Firstly, they didn't bother to read a bunch of the press and focused on the work on the stage. Secondly, they gave the job to the most qualified person who wanted it the most: J.D. Fortune. Runner-up Marty Casey had the Lovehammers, and there was no way he was becoming a permanent fixture of INXS. They didn't whine and toss him out in a spectacle, they just didn't give him the job. Same for anyone else who wasn't completely into it.
I understand that Phil wasn't gonna win and he was leaving soon anyway, but I'm just annoyed with how they handled it. They didn't even air the part about the article, yet it was enough to kick him off the show? That kinda thing annoys me. Either choose to involve that article or don't.
-
Another add-to... the official Rocker blogs have been edited. (Since I read some of the changes pre-edit, I can actually attest to this.) Also, Phil Ritchie's dad apparently commented on Dave Navarro's blog (6767.com). Among the many, many things he had to say, his son is a winner in his eyes. Alls I can say is nobody's dad should go around defending their son's rocker cred unless he's Alice Cooper or someone. Jus' saying.
Songs for this week:
Patrice – Higher Ground (Stevie Wonder)
Josh – Santeria (Sublime)
Dilana – Can’t Get Enough (Bad Company)
Toby – Pennyroyal Tea (Nirvana)
Zayra – 867-5309 (Tommy Tutone)
Magni – Clocks (Coldplay)
Jill – Don’t You (Forget About Me) (Simple Minds)
Ryan – Losing My Religion (R.E.M.)
Lukas – Celebrity Skin (Hole)
Storm – Changes (David Bowie)
Dana – Baba O’Riley (The Who)
That's right, Zayra's doin' Tommy Tutone.
-
Also, Tommy "Hatchetman" Lee will be performing w/ Patrice.
-
Neat, Toby'll be singing one of my favorite songs.
-
That's right, Zayra's doin' Tommy Tutone.
Tell me that's a joke. Right?
-
Damnit, I forgot -- one more softball game.
I could download a torrent, but I won't have time to watch it. Oh well.
-
The performances will be available online after the show, and by that I mean the individual performances so you can pick and choose who you want to see. I'm not certain how to get them since I can't get one speck of MSN content to play for me. I know when you go to the "Watch Episodes" part of the website and skim over the various rockers, one of the options you get is "Latest Performance".
-
If you go to Slow Roll's post, there are links there. Or you could save the file in Notepad and play them all. These are just performances, no feedback fluff or anything.

Me Hate Zayra Long time. She looked like a god damn stripper out there....Which probably'll keep'er from getting the boot.
Dilana was, as always, on the ball and very good. AND? I can now say I am impressed by Ryan with his performance of Losing My Religion. Very nice, very ballsy.
-
Dilana needs some work on her moves. She seems awkward when she goes about the stage. Dana would get reamed for the same behavior. Did you get a load of that guy that gave Dilana a ride back to the stage, E? That's her boyfriend Steve or Steven. Some name like that. But that's her boyfriend.
Just as I was getting into Ryan's performance, he got to that part where it goes "That's me in the corner" and he spat something! Merla says it was a booger, but there's this white speck on his piano and the whole time it was on screen I couldn't stop staring at the damn thing. It completely detracted from his performance.
I was actually entertained by Zayra, even though I thought Dave's comments about "changing it up" were more of less full of shit. That was identical to "Call Me" and that Kinks tune she mutilated twice. Gilby's comments were just stupid. I think it's gotten to the point where she's so terrible and Suave Porn (aka Supernova) are so resistant towards getting rid of her no matter what that I've had to accept that she's gonna be here to stay for a while longer.
On the shallow end, Toby's hot and I like seeing him on my tee vee. But musically and performance-wise, he's also very forgettable. There's nothing he's done so far that makes me want a copy. He's not a bad singer by any means, he's just doesn't give me any goosebumps. How very sad. Even sadder was that Toby was in the early bottom three. They need to imbue into Toby that he needs to get charged and seriously shake things up. Come on, Tobes!
It's more of less the same deal with Magni. I didn't like his first performance, but his later ones are better. Still, he's not a memorable dude for me. I think that he was all "boo hoo, my family" actually saved him from the bottom three. I find whenever I'm making a list of people/performances/songs I like and don't, I ALWAYS forget Magni.
I like Patrice. I don't see her going very far and I'm still not digging her twang. Her little faux-hawk tonight was awesome though. She was putting more energy into it, and I wanna see more of that.
Reggae, I don't really dig. Josh, I don't really dig. He's not a bad performer by any means but he's so in the wrong show it isn't funny.
Jill, Jill, what were you thinking? "Don't You" doesn't need to be done "Gioia-style" with your wailing and shouting. It was like bad kareoke. On the other hand, I find I like adding Gioia-style to the ends of sentences. It might even fit the fortune cookie thing where you add "in bed" at the end. Let's ride this monkey.... Gioia-style!
Lukas was terrible, but he ain't going no where.
Storm, I wasn't impressed with. Instead of it being something smooth and slow, it was like her other performances toned down. If it's gonna be like her other performances, she might as well bring that infectious energy I love. I so disagree with Jason. I wanna slap him.
Dana and Baba O’Riley. She can sing, but who cares. All I could think about was Jordis. Dana's eyes are weird, too, and I spent the whole song trying to improve it. I don't think Dana deserves to leave.
Again, I was shocked that Toby got early bottom 3. I knew Jill would be there, and Zayra by default. I have a feeling those two are gonna stay there and it'll be either Dana or Josh who join them.
A lot of ppl think Ryan's gonna get the encore, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was Dilana again.
-
I kind of don't want to see Zayra go. Her performance always gives me a good laugh.
-
Dude. That skirt was so short I was embarassed.
-
I don't think that was a skirt. More like an oversized blouse. I wonder if that woman has ever been to rock concert because she doesn't seem to know how to rock.
-
Puertican accent// But the rock, it is whatever you want to be making it.//accent
I don't think it was a skirt or a blouse. It was like a loose leotard/hotpants combo type of thing.
-
Don't know, Don't care, it screamed whore.
Hopefully, she goes home tonight so I don't have to hear her BUTCHER SONGS!!!
Though, if she actually sang something in spanish, I think it would sound excellent.
-
Encore Prediction: Ryan or Dilana.
Edit: Called it.
-
I tell you, I can't predict these guys. They always send someone else home. The only time I came close was when Matt pulled out that Duran, Duran song, so then I prayed for the safe guidance of his eternal rocker soul.
Jill was shouting in pieces of that Heart song. I found it painful. People at other forums loved it, but all I could hear was singing mixed with her rocking Gioia-style. "It chills me to the B-AWWWW-NE!" OMG. She can sing but she still insists on shrieks and horrible contrived micstand kicks. Then they sat her ass down. Eek.
Patrice, I think, just hasn't been bringing it so I was fearful because overall I think she CAN bring it, and it's too early for her to go before Jill and Dana. I liked her performance with Tommy, but I did see her in some real danger tonight. Dana's "hyuck, I got my first tattoo" didn't exactly endear me tho'. And I forwarded her performance.
I'm mildly entertained by Zayra, but just the same, the people voting for her are really pissing me off. "Ho ho, I threw a few votes at Z to keep the freak around." "Tee hee, I can't wait to see what Catshit Crazy does next so I voted for her." If anybody else besides Jill leaves before Z, I will cry foul. Even reggaeman Joshy is miles above Barbarella Conchita Alonzo.
Now that I've said this, Chica de E.T.'s probably gonna have the best original song next week.
-
Only if it's in another language.
-
Klingon. l33t.
-
Klingon Opera? AHHHH!
-
I wish I was clued.
-
Dammit, Dilana, bring out the short skirts. We haven't seen dem legs on teh show!
-
Still don't dig the piercings personally, though.
-
They're just holes.
-
Bronzer is cheaper when you buy it by the case.
-
No, some people apparently just go out in the sun. Don't feel bad, I didn't know about this either.
-
It looks unnatural. Like in 20 years her skins is going to have the color and consistency of leather.
And the guy on her right looks unnatural out of his closet.
-
Songs for this week!
Dilana - Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who) w/ teh Gilby
Jill - Mother Mother (Tracy Bonham)
Ryan - Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones)
Storm - We Are the Champions (Queen)
Zayra - All the Young Dudes (David Bowie/Mott the Hoople)
Josh - Interstate Love Song (Stone Temple Pilots) - w/ Tommy
Magni - The Dolphin's Cry (Live)
Patrice - Instant Karma (John Lennon)
Lukas - Creep (Radiohead)
Toby - Burning Down the House (Talking Heads)
-
Yar. There be potential in that there lineup, little missy!
-
Oh I know you....when "We are the Champions" gets murdered on stage you'll be pissed.
-
And Rightly so. I was upset something fierce when American Idol cut Bohemian Rhapsody down to something like two minutes.
-
Suppossedly, there was a Dilana curse. Whoever went before Dilana went home. Dana and Josh appeared to had broken it last week. Except Dilana's first this week... and who went before Dilana in the performance shows.... Dana! Could Josh be next, before that freak Zayra and that banshee Jill? It really makes you think. Or not. Whatever.
-
Dilana - Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who) w/ teh Gilby
Dilana was amazing. Enough said.
Jill - Mother Mother (Tracy Bonham)
She was ok, but she sounded out of breath some of the time. And I really wasn't a fan of the skipping.
Ryan - Paint It Black (The Rolling Stones)
Pretty decent job. I had to go out to the car, so I missed a lot of it, but what I saw was ok.
Storm - We Are the Champions (Queen)
Nice epic song that suited her vocals. She'll be around next week.
Zayra - All the Young Dudes (David Bowie/Mott the Hoople)
Please, get her off the show. She clearly doesn't belng.
Josh - Interstate Love Song (Stone Temple Pilots) - w/ Tommy
Magni - The Dolphin's Cry (Live)
Patrice - Instant Karma (John Lennon)
Missed these three. A shame, too, because I really like the first two songs.
Lukas - Creep (Radiohead)
Not one of my favorite song, but he did alright, I guess. Seemed a little weak on some of the quieter, more melodic parts.
Toby - Burning Down the House (Talking Heads)
Holy shit, what was that? Toby made that song rock far more than it has any right to.
Predicted bottom 3 (though it could change if I go listen to the three I missed):
Jill, Zayra, Lukas
-
People were over, so I couldn't hear a whole lot of these. I'm disappointed Toby didn't fight to do the Who song.
I remember Dave saying to Jill last week that her performance was the sort where people realize they need a soda or have to go to the bathroom. Josh thru Patrice did that for me. I just don't feel Magni. And in the cases of those three, I really think they're all talented. Especially Patrice, but she doesn't seem to ever bring it.
I'll watch it again later. I'm hoping fate doesn't place Toby at risk in the bottom three again. He doesn't deserve to be there, but I can see how it may happen. The early bottom three should probably stay that way, with Jill, Z, and Patrice. Maybe Josh, because I just never feel that guy either.
-
DOUBLE ELIMINATION!...But ZAYRA WASN'T IN THERE. GGRRR!!
-
I know what you mean, E. I'm glad they did a double elim but Z being one of the bootees would've made my night. It's not right that people are voting for that chick. Matt, Dana, Jill, Phil, and Josh. At least all of these people could sing! Fucking Supernova should've booted E.T. out for butchering the Kinks. She has to be, HAS to be going next. Everybody else who's gone weren't going to win anyway. Now we have a group of seven serious contenders and one Janet From Another Planet. If we have a Patrice, Ryan, Toby bottom three next week, I will scream it will be so wrong.
As for the performances, I watched them this morning.
I love Dilana, don't get me wrong, and she has some serious chops and pressence. But I haven't gotten any serious chills since Lithium. Lithium was practically magic, and so far nothing else she's done's come close to that for me.
I agree with Jill. Not only was she doing her cheerleader funk on the stage yet again, homechick was out of breath like my 8th grade ass on the final lap in gym class. I get the impression that as far as stamina goes, she doesn't have a whole lot. As a side note, something about her bothered me and I realized her greasey makeup and huge drawn-in eyebrows makes her look like a heroin addict.
Ryan gets an A+ for pressentation. However, I'd give him a D+ for voice. Vocally, it wasn't there for me.
Storm's Queen cover was beautiful.
Not one of Zayra's better outfits. I feel like I'm watching a clown at intermission, albeit a hot clown. She talked about giving it her all, then girl, why don't you stay on key?
Josh and Magni bore me. On my rewatch, I forwarded on through. They seem like nice guys, but their music doesn't do anything for me.
Patrice was adorable. I know that's not really a positive for Rockstar, but she looked so happy rocking out her song with that weird little grin on her face and that equally weird 'do. I'm glad it saved her from bottom three this week.
Lukas actually gave one of his best perfomances. He actually seemed to be singing and I could actually understand most of it. Lukas has a LOT of love online. Last year, the fan favorite-- that is the one with the most votes total-- was Marty Casey. I think this year it's Lukas Rossi. However, I was a Marty fan from Day 1. I just don't get the love for Lukas. I liked his arrangement of certain songs, but I just don't understand the brother most of the time. Like I've said before, he sings with a sock in his mouth. "RAWR rawr rawr rawr..." With this performance, I actually got some of the Lukas love.
I wanted to smack Dave Navarro. "I was with you until the megaphone." Toby killed it! (In the good way.) He performed his heart out and to see his cute Aussie face deflate on national tee vee because Dave's a bonehead was sad. Toby did not overuse a prop. Dave, did you forget Pretty Vegas or something? Bonehead. Leave Tobes alone!
-
I was out. Who were the two that were eliminated?
And I can't BELIEVE Zayra wasn;t one of them.
-
She wasn't even in bottom three. FTW! Jill and Josh got the double whammy. Ryan sang a Depeche Mode tune and they thought he "deserves a second chance". Their words. After the elim, they were reportedly getting on a plane and heading to Vegas.
-
This week:
Zayra – Lluvia De Mar (original song)
Magni – Starman (David Bowie)
Patrice – Message in a Bottle (The Police)
Lukas – Hero (Chad Kroeger)
Storm – I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
Toby – Solsbury Hill (Peter Gabriel) – w/ teh Gilby on acoustic guitar
Ryan – In the Air Tonight (Phil Collins)
Dilana – Cat’s in the Cradle (Harry Chapin)
-
Wow that sure is a crappy set list.
-
Yeah. Supernova wanted it stripped down but this is just silly.
-
But, hey, if any of the contestants can make some of those songs believable hard rock tunes they deserve to win.
-
Zayra underwhelmed me.
-
I thought Zayra's elim performance tonight was the best I've seen of her. Still, I wasn't ready to lose Patrice. It was time to toss Zayra back, and they probably would've done so earlier if she had only been in the bottom three.
I was telling Merla that Magni wasn't so "Magni-ficient". Hyuck. Seriously, we're down the seven people, and I continue to forget about this guy. He has two weeks, tops. Maybe three if SN decides to not be forgiving on Toby.
If people perform like they have been these last few weeks, next week's bottom three will likely be Patrice, Magni, and Toby. Ryan may also be in danger if he has another "Paint It Black". Storm needs a fast, rocking song to remain in the top.
Speaking of which, I kinda wanted to see her in the bottom three, only because she was so pumped to prove something. Hopefully we'll see that energy in next week's performance. And I liked her gritty "I Will Survive".
-
Fuck beans, I forgot to post.... Request week!! From the looks of Dilana's page (the first page that loads), they're doing the same cop-out as last time. That's where they put three songs that the rockers already did, and then add another ("wild card") that someone else likely already did. Of course people are gonna request the one that hasn't been done by that performer yet. Lithium's up there. Dilana already did that twice! I like how it says at the top to give Jill a chance at "Helter Skelter". She gone! She gone!
In the style of last year, it's full of disappointment.
Dilana -
Lithium
Ring of Fire
Time After Time
Mother, Mother (Dilana's actually already done this, too! There's an MP3 floating around of it.)
Lukas -
Bittersweet Symphony
Creep
Rebel Yell
Lithium (WTF!? AGAIN with Lithium!?)
Magni -
Heroes
Clocks
Dolphin's Cry
I, Alone (Bring in some different music, damn you.)
Patrice -
Somebody To Love
Helter Skelter
Instant Karma
She Talks to Angels (Could they choose something MORE sucktastic than this!? It's like they're making her go home!)
Ryan -
Iris
I, Alone
Losing My Religion
Clocks (BOO!! Where the hell's the rock, bitches?)
Storm -
Anything, Anything
Changes
We Are the Champions
Bring Me To Life (QUE!!!? Two people already did this! WHYYYYYYY~~!)
Toby -
Somebody Told Me
Burning Down the House
Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Rebel Yell (Screw this! He already did Billy Idol!)
And yes she's still up there:
Zayra -
Call Me
8675309
Bring Me to Life
We Are the Champions (Thank God she didn't live to maul this.)
-
Oh yeah, and Supernova's new track: It sucked as expected.
-
BUT ZAYRA'S GONE! WOOOHOOO!!!
-
About fuckin time.
-
That "Razorblade" is a really cool song. I guess I have Zayra to thank for that, since it's now on my Favorites playlist. Not her version, but I did put hers on my DVD of favorite clips from the show.
-
Thread nazi!! DELETE DELETE!! Posting you're not interested on the 10th page. Don't be fags. At least Zero had the balls to do it on the first.
-
LMAO!!
this is a dictatorship! Free speech is not contamplated in here! That's it, I'm calling CNN and Howard Stern!
-
Yay, songs for the week.
Patrice - Beautiful Thing - Original song
Magni - Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Ryan - Back of your Car - Original song
Storm - Cryin' - Aerosmith
Dilana - Every Breath You Take - the Police
Toby - Layla - Eric Clapton
Lukas - All These Things That I've Done - The Killers
-
OOO. This'll be interesting.
-
What the hell? Did they change days for this?
-
It got bumped an hour because of some JCPenney kids concert crapola. So right now it's Big Brother, I think, and then at 9ct is Rock Star. It's not my understanding that this will be a regular thing. I think just for today.

This article is neat. It's on Storm, but even if you don't care for Storm, it provides an interesting perspective on the show. (Like the fact they earn a 1000$ a week! And that there's ghosties in the mansion....)
-
Rarr! What goes Gilby mean about memorable? Storm's plenty memorable, it's damn Magni I always forget!
-
It was all right. Lukas should be shot though. He sings from the back of his throat, and In my opinion, it hurts his performances because HE ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS has that like, "RAAAWLL" thing going.
-
Of Lukas's stuff, I've liked Bittersweet Symphony (though I think it's more along the lines of me just really liking that song in general) and I liked Creep. I completely dig Rebel Yell (as in the song itself), but that whole "sings with a sock in his mouth" thing kinda turned me off. It helps to understand what you're saying, duder. It was cute when Gilby called him on turning his back, and Lukas started talking. I noticed the accent before, but it was just cartoon-like here, like one of those moose characters from "Brother Bear". "I was playing for the band, eh? They're, like, my people, eh?" Lukas isn't going anywhere though, and neither is Dilana.
I tossed about a dozen votes or so for Stormy. I almost want to see her in the bottom three so I can see her perform again.
-
OMG Creep is my new favorite song! I LOVE it, it's so depressing!
-
You've never heard Creep before? That song has been around since the early 90s and was orginally preformed by Radiohead.
-
I hadn't heard of it either until last year's Rock Star. Then again, music-wise, I discover a lot of things late.
-
Tonight: We all knew Patrice was going. I thought she should've gone out with a bang instead of a whimper. She should've made that song far harsher, that would've been sweet.
I'm getting annoyed with Dave and 'Novas being all "I'm surprised you're here. You shouldn't be here... blah blah." We're getting down to the wire. It wasn't gonna be Dilana or Lukas. Ryan was the best of the night. And Stormy's gots her fans. Who do they suggest it be, Zayra, Chris, and Jenny? Magni, Patrice, and Toby are the back of the pack as far as I'm concerned. Toby had two performances and I got no chills from the guy. He looked like he belonged with the band more so than Dilana imo.
-
MMMM. Kind of a tossup for me. I thought Dilana performed well with Nova, but I didn't like the song they sand. THIS time, I rather did like the Song they did, Be Yourself and Five Other Cliche's.
-
"Hey hey hey, ho ho ho"... Ye~~ah, I don't remember anything else.
-
Me neither, but I still dug it.
-
Toby's voice sounded good. Too bad his singing doesn't really do anything for me.
-
So what's on tap for this week, Nuri?
-
Lukas just lost it for me. Forever.
-
Yeah, I didn't post because it was viewer's (non)choice. As you know, I go off and read spoilers by people who attend the performance tapings on Sunday. They all loved Lukas, so I expected a standard Lukas performance. I have to say I hated that. Lithium was completely unrecognizable. I actually came home tired and didn't wake up and get to the tv until after Ryan was done, so when I saw the early bottom 3 I was like, "what, Lukas is there?" I rewound it to watch and that was such a bottom three performance it wasn't funny. I liked "Celebrity Skin" better than that.
What's sad is that two of the best performances of the night, Storm and Ryan, were in the early bottom three and have a good chance of staying there. Storm with Toby was exquisite. Fuck a Gilby. I wish more of the contestants would perform together.
I'm really hoping final bottom three is Ryan, Magni, and Toby, with Magni going home. I've heard Gilby has no apparent interest in a Storm-fronted Supernova, and Storm deserves at least a top four finish, if not higher. Dilana just isn't doing it for me. The leg thing she did with the guitarist was weird, and I've heard her perform that song better than that.
-
Yeah. She's been going a bit mental as of late...
-
Thank God it was Ryan and not Storm. I can't believe Magni was completely safe. The voting for him had to be unreal. I wonder how much voting for Dilana dropped. I would love to see some numbers.
-
This is the second week in a row I've missed both shows. I need an alarm or something.
-
You should get Dish network. Auto-Tune is a life saver.
-
This is the second week in a row I've missed both shows. I need an alarm or something.
Last week, Patrice left. This week Ryan left. Toby's stepped it up, Storm's getting an unfair shake, Lukas is still Lukas. Dilana was a bit of a biatch in the reality episodes and has been on a crash burn decline. She was in the bottom three this week and performance stank. Magni's head was cut by a stray shard of glass and miraculously, he was the only one this week not in the bottom three (and frankly, he belonged there). Now you're caught up. See you next week.

Hot Avatar photo's, Nuri.
-
I can't stand that Who song.
-
Then you can miss the first few minutes.
-
I liked Storms Original. Fav thus far.
-
I liked hers, too, but I LOVED Toby's. Damn catchy. I agreed with the ranking at the end of the show. I've thought from day one that Lukas was gonna win, but I see a real shot for Toby and I think it'll be down to the two of them.
Magni fails to really wow me and even though I didn't care for his original, I loved his voice on it. I wish he sounded like that on more of his performances.
I don't want Storm to go home, but I doubt despite her recent suckage that Dilana's going home pre-finale. Her song wasn't horrible by any means, but it was the bottom of the bunch. So it's either Storm or Magni, and I think it could be either one leaving at this point.
-
SPOILERS.....
NOOOOOOOOOOO! Sadness. Storm was eliminated today. I knew she wasn't gonna win, but I wanted her around for finale week. Some people are voting their dicks off or something for Magni because dude didn't even make the bottom three. AGAIN. Lukas and Storm were way better than Magni. FTW!
-
I want her Original song.
-
This is bullshit. Storm was the best performance for the comeback, Lukas sings the same damn song "RARL" style and Dilana put on another mediocre performance.
-
Also? Storm is really tall. I think she could look me in the eye. I find that incredibly attractive and it turns me on.
-
Yes, Storm is 6" tall.
Even though I don't love Lukas, I don't think he deserved to go. This should've been Magni's week. Or last week. I wish his fans didn't save him. I would've sent Dilana home. "I Want You To Want Me". She doesn't stop being literal. Meanwhile, Storm doesn't leave a dry eye in the house and Supernova wants nothing to do with it. I just have a feeling it was Gilby's doing. Jason and Tommy seemed really into her with their goodbyes. Gilby's just meh. Wet blanket.
-
Bleh.
Toby
Karma Police (Radiohead)
Throw It Away
Lukas
Fix You (Coldplay)
Headspin (acoustic version)
Dilana
Roxanne (The Police)
Supersoul
Magni
Hush (Deep Purple)
When the Time Comes
That's right, all of them will be doing the SAME originals they did just last week. On top of that, Toby and Lukas repeated their originals already, so it'll be the third time. I care about Headspin in acoustic like I cared about "Trees" in acoustic. They weren't bad songs, but repetition seems to be a common theme this season. Dilana also chose to do "Roxanne" instead of "Comfortably Numb". I didn't really need to hear "Roxanne" again, but I'm willing not to count Chris since his sounded terrible.
-
Now *this* looks like a week to skip.
Well, ok, maybe I'll watch Magni's "Hush"
-
It's not the week to skip simply because it ends Wednesday. Finale week! Just catch the end of the show to see Magni.
I forgot to mention, Ryan Star comes back to perform his original for the Verizon fanvoted performance. Which is great since he spent all that money voting for himself. Har har.
-
Tis quite lame.
-
Delinah (or wutevz) better win.
She's the only one who even looks like she belongs with a band full of metal heads.
-
I want Toby to win because I like him and think he looks best with the group. Dilana fits in too, though. Lukas is too much Lukas for those old farts. Magni's not even in the running, and I think he knows it.
-
I couldn't stand Lukas.
Everytime I saw or heard him I just got angry.
"get that scene faggot offa there god dammit!"
-
I can't believe how many fangirls that guy has.
-
I can't believe how many fangirls that guy has.
I wonder how many thongs get thrown at him.
-
It's a shame that Magni will probably be eliminated first, because he really looks like he belongs up there.
Lukas definately has talent, but he just doesn't fit in with the other guys, in my eyes.
I'm betting Dilana and Toby will be the top two. Which of them wins is a toss-up.
-
SPOILERS....
Cut first, Magni. We all knew he would be. I thought he was the second best last night. But it's been two weeks coming.
Cut next Toby.
Then Dilana.
Lukas wins. We knew he would. Glad I didn't preorder the Suckassnova CD. Lukas is okay, but I can't listen to a CD full of him.
Worst of all, and biggest offense:
It's all repeat songs again!!!! I liked hearing different crap, and it's all things they've already done. Fire (Magni), Rebel Yell (Toby), Zombie (Dilana), Bittersweet Symphony (Lukas), and Somebody Told Me (Toby). Why couldn't we have more originals or something else? Cheap bastards.
Also we get Five Cliches and another Supernova song that I believe Lukas sang with them before, but that doesn't matter to me since I won't be able to understand them anyway.
-
fuck
fuckfuckfuck
Stupid looking motherfuckers always win these god damn things. It never fails.
-
Second homeless Cannuck in a row. We're getting them off the streets one at a time.
-
The Cock Sucker.....
-
I was disappointed.
-
Going through four people in one hour is not advisable. Storm talked about when she left being the perfect time to leave since it could her exit, special and unshared by anybody. I see what she meant. They couldn't get Magni and Toby off the stage fast enough.
When JD was the winner last year, he fell to his knees practically in tears. It was so important to him. Lukas here was like "meh. That's coo'." Then did you see Gilby on guitar, spinning around like an idiot and pointing his ass to the audience? El retardo!
And biggest rip: Where were the past contestants? You at least bring them out one more time. Piss-bad. Everyone should've been there for the finale.
There were originally suppose to be guest judges, and they really should've stuck to that. That would've really up the contest.
I'd still come back for another season, but they need to get a real band that sees the singer selection process as being important to them instead of some summer hobby. And some song variety.
-
I'm for getting rid of Navarro too.
-
Navarro's not a problem. We just need to get him a steady girl and then he won't be all hissy-pissy on the teh damn show.
