Have I mentioned this before?
There's these soapbox christians who stand on this same corner at least once a month, preaching about how everyone else is going to hell, usually with a megaphone.
I saw this one guy getting really angry at one of the guys, getting in his face and screaming and swearing at the preachers and getting red faced.
Obviously angry behavior like that will just make them feel like they are right, that they are better than mr. angry man and they need to save people like mr. angry man from the devil. They'd probably do it anyway, but the few people who agree with them, combined with the people who scream at them, inflate their egos and make them think they're doing the right thing.
But what should I do? Should I debate with them and show them where they're wrong, or not even bother, because it would be like talking to someone with Alzheimer's?

There were these guys in Ottawa with this signs saying you will go to hell for these reasons and there was a list of like 10 or 11 things. I'd done 6. One guy I was with topped me and that's only 'cause he had adultered.
It was shit like covet, saudomise and stupid shit like that.
There was one I wasn't sure what it meant so I asked him what it meant. I can't remember hte wording but it basically meant breaking the law. As soon as he answered I scream across the street "Yeah I got 6!".

I pretty much drawn the line between a religious person who's innocently pursuing their faith and a nut job or whatever negative conotation you may give as soon as the person does something to try to hinder the life of myself or another good person with their faith. That being forcing their religion on me, trying to stop evolutionary theory from being taught in school, trying to stop gays from having basic rights, telling me I can touch myself...

Sounds a little cramped. The face and ass don't line up easily in much other than a prone or kneeling behind another position... unless you're thinking of the priest sticking his ass in the little window and the confesser going to town... that could work... I think. I've never actualllly been to confession.

I don't put much stock in people who tell others how they're going to hell for this, this, this, and this, but that's all they do. I've known plenty like that, and whether they're right or wrong, the Bible tells Christians to "speak the truth in love" (Ephesians 4:15) and to be careful how they judge others (Matthew 7:2).
Debating them is usually ineffectual, as they take any challenge as a sort of persecution and, thus, as a sign that they're doing good by God.
Besides, you don't know enough about the topic to put a dent in them, anyway.

Speaking of religious nutjobs:
My dad (now a fanatical Christian) holds "Bible Study" every wednesday. About two weeks ago or so, my brother and I were in my room playing video games to drown out the weirdness going on in the living room. It was going fine, until we heard the sound of a woman crying and sobbing. We exchanged glances for a second, tried not to think about it and continued playing.
Twenty minutes later, we hear what sounded like a ghoul moaning, there was no other way to describe it other than that it was fucking creepy. It was that same woman. We kept hearings the sounds of the other people speaking bible verses in spanish loudly, screaming and moaning as if there was an exorcism going on or whatever.
I still don't know what happened, don't care and that's why I'm over with Derrick by now....y'know other than the fact dad wants to burn all my books, the ones that are related to ghosts in any way (apparently if it doesn't edificate me, it's not worth reading), relating to any religion other than Christianity (I have a the Tao Te Ching and some books on Hinduism and Buddhism, how are those related to Satan eating my soul?) or the Da Vinci Code. Lovely, ne? ^-^

This will be a LONG post…Ghost Adventures in the Religious Nutjobs Crazed Thread!
The entire island of Key West is haunted, people have seen ghosts walking the streets and there are a lot of places that have a ghost living there. The ones I have been around and/or had something odd happen: The Artist House, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Club Chameleon, and La Concha Hotel. The first time I went to Key West, I took the ghost tour. It started in the lobby of the La Concha Hotel, my brother and I were by ourselves while dad hung out on Duval Street with his Army buddies. While we were waiting in the lobby, I was fixated on some strange looking fans that look like revolving paddles. Out of the corner of my eye, I remember seeing a gray cloud floating over the ceiling. When I tried to look at it, it had vanished. My brother didn’t really believe I saw anything.
Our tour guide came and he was dressed all dark with a cool looking cloak, carrying a lantern. When we got outside, he told us the La Concha has its share of ghosts; to date there had been 15 people who jumped from the roof and a bellhop was killed falling down the elevator shaft.

There are no ghosts here, but it does have a one disturbing story behind it. A man named Count Carl von Cosel was a prominent man in Key West; he was one of the few doctors on the island. When he was young, his grandmother came to him as a ghost and showed him his future wife; a young woman of Cuban descent with long dark hair, dark eyes and skin soft as silk. He did meet this woman many years later. Her name was Eleyna de Hoyos, a young Cuban woman who was very beautiful for the time. She was exactly what his grandmother described to her; long dark hair, dark eyes and fair soft skin. However there was only one problem. She was dying of tuberculosis.
The count, completely in love with her, tried everything in his powet to save her.
She died a few days before Halloween and he went to her funeral. He could not stop thinking about her. He visited her grave everyday, sang love songs, and read her love poems. One day he just couldn’t take it anymore; he HAD to marry this woman. He took her out of her grave, reconstructed her face using plaster and wax. He reconstructed her body by stuffing it with wax, dipping her body with embalming fluids and antiseptics and he replaced the dead rotting skin with silk. He placed her in a wedding dress and yes, he married her in a private ceremony. He managed to keep her body.....for 9 YEARS!
Neighbors found out and Eleyna’s family fought to get her body back. The doctor agreed, but one condition; he wanted two more days with his wife. Two days passed, no body; the cops found him and arrested him. The case never went to trial and they couldn’t hold him at all; he was so brilliant he passed all of the psychiatric tests with flying colors. To keep the count from getting his wife back, they cut Eleyna’s body into pieces and buried her in (supposedly) a mausoleum in a secret location. The heartbroken doctor moved to Zephyrhills, Florida and wrote out his memoirs about his love for Eleyna, how he reconstructed her body and how he screwed the dead body (in so few words). The book is available called Undying Love.
When the count died, he was found lying on top of a coffin holding a replica of Eleyna. It’s a sick story but it’s one of those normally weird things that had happened in Key West.
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
I’ve always had a personal problem with churches, but this one I probably fear the most. There are many ghosts that inhabit the church, including the ghosts of a sea captain and his daughter and the children from Club Chameleon. When I had taken the tour, I wanted to take a picture of a beautiful statue inside of the gated graveyard in the back of the church. While the tour guide told the group the story behind it, I had stuck my hands through the bars to get a better shot. Suddenly, I had the weirdest sensation, it was as if someone with sickly hot breath was breathing on my arms and on my face. I was so freaked out by that weird feeling, quickly slipped my hands away from the bars and joined my brother again. That feeling on my arms and face stayed until we were well across the street. The next time I had returned to key West and visited that Churchyard, I gave my apology and asked if I was able to photograph the statue. That time, nothing strange happened and I didn’t feel any strange sensations.
The Ghost Tours used to take people into the churchyard, but a few years ago there was an incident and they had since stopped doing that. But I think I made this way too long enough, so end of part 1! ^-^ Mwahahaha!

Except there is this one lady that does tours in the French Quater that doesn't wear that costume, but rather looks like she just stepped out of an Anne Rice novel.
And please tell me you saw Robert the Doll when you were there.

Strangely enough, I haven't seen him yet. >.< I've been to Key West twice before and always missed the chance to see him, but Derrick and I were planning to go sometime in the next few months. We'll go see him; I just hope Derrick doesn't do something to piss him off. -.-
The Von Cosel story is one of my favorites, I might try to find Undying Love just to read it.

Yeah that's it. SouthEast isn’t my beat, so I don't keep up on those places like I do the Lemp Mansion or the many haunts of Alton.
And I don't know.... Having a demon doll come to life and maul Tom might be pretty funny. Make sure to bring a Video Camera when you go and if that happens get it on tape. I want to see it.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that plans vacations on where haunted places are. I was going to make my 2nd trip to New Orleans this summer, but that was before the Hurricane (yes I do plan things that far ahead), and then I changed it to Savannah, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen now so I'll have to save it for next year or this winter.

Well it looked nice and my cousin lives in Atlanta so I have free room and board for at least one stop on the way there, if I drove that is. I orginally only wanted to go there cause of the Ga-Ga-Ga-Ghosts!, but after looking it up it really does seem like a nice place. One of those old cities that like got lost in time and I really I like those. Most old cities grow up and tear down all the old buildings and act like they didn't have a past Pre-1960, but not Savannah. If it wasn't for the Hurricanes and tropical storms and I'm sure an unheard of cost of living I might even consider moving there.

Yep. There are only a hand full of towns near by that have any homes older then the 50s here, and one of them is Eldon. Eldon is suffering from being so close to Osage Beach which has become the Mid-Missouri Tourist Hot Spot and they are tearing down old early 1900 homes (Eldon was a railroad town) to make way for Condos and Houses for the Yuppies from Chicago, Saint Louis, and Kansas City to have as "Summer" homes. As if I didn't resent the rich assholes enough as is.
There was a house in Eldon that I would have given my left nut to have. It was built in 1918, Victorian Style and it even had a guest house and all for like 113k which is pretty good cause they are charging the same price for a 2 bedroom shack in Osage Beach, but couldn't come up with money (could be cause I'm poor) and it sold. Ah well....it was a pipe dream anyways. I never actually thoght I was going to get it buy it, but it was a nice dream while it lasted.

I thought I saw a ghost once. It was a giant cockroach on the wall that just vanished and I thought I heard "get out of the house". This may have been a dream but 2 days earlier I had definitely slain the cockroach god's avatar whom I found eating a piece of chicken in my frying pan. I mean it was literally perched on the chicken breast eating it with mandibles so large that I could actually see where he'd taken bites out of it. So I swiftly took his illbegotten poultry away and this greatly displeased him. He began to run round in circles in the frying pan. I don't know what dark purpose this was going to serve but I wasn't about to find out so I wrapped my fist in paper towel and punched him square in the back. Now usually when you crush a roach they turn to orange goo, but not this one. Something shot out of him and I thought he was dead. Upon closer inspection it was one of his internal organs, still intact mind you. He played dead for a moment then upon realizing whatever he'd just lost wasn't vital he resumed running around in circles in the frying pan. I was shocked and hammered him 3 more times before wrapping him in the paper towel, crumbling it up, and flushing him down the toilet. Outside of that very bathroom on the wall is where the roach totem manifested and demanded I vacate the premises. It was right then that I decided I had to stop smoking weed.
