This movie suffered due to the director, because the film overall lacked direction.
Now I am not saying this was a bad movie, the actors were wonderful, if lacking there was too many. Magneto was amazing throughout the film, though Halle Berry did 'over act' a bit much throughout. Another problem was the shortness that Cyclops and Professor X had onscreen. I know why Cyclops was cut short, but Professor X was killed off in a second. What is interesting is they never showed Cyclops being killed.
Pluses? Naked Human Mystique with nice dark hair ^_^ Magneto living, and proving that even with 4 cure needles stuck in him, the cure is only temporary. Iceman all iced up, finally, and the way it was done was well presented. Cyclops actually was presented well.
Minuses? Bad direction, it was all over the place x.x Little to no screen time for Rogue, Cyclops, and Professor X, they were totally ignored. Wolverine was an emo pussy craving Jean throughout the entire film, even though she said she picked Cyclops. Even though SHE SAID she picked Scott over him, he still whined and pined. I was so glad he killed her, but again that was probably a directors issue. Also there was alot of sex...
Best scene? The last one, showing a depowered Magneto, sitting all alone in the park playing chess with an open chair. The pieces are metal, and even though he took 4 shots of the depowering cure, yet he reaches out, and with his powers, slightly nudges it. :)
Bonus scene(s):
I didn't stick around because I heard it was a rumour, but apparently there are several bonus scenes. The only one I've seen stated by alot of people is Professor X living on in another mutant's body, a mutant that had no soul or somesuch. I've heard rumors about there being actually 4 scenes, depending on where you live depends on which one you will see at the end. I hope the Cyclops one is true, especially since the only thing the showed before he 'died' was a rouge sucking effect, which was not quite how she killed everyone else.
-
I stayed until after the credits. For me, at least, it was Professor X living on in that one vegetable-like guy's body. He was mentioned early on in the movie, and the Prof. was asking the class about the ethicalness of putting someone's mind into such a person as that.
The movie was a bit slow. I actually felt bored at times. I have more respect for Bryan Singer (the original director) now.
-
As do I.
-
I thought about seeing this on Monday, but maybe not.
-
This year seems kinda bleak for superhero movies.
I hope Superman Returns is good, but so far the trailers haven't thrilled me much.
And Ghost Rider... looks... eh.
-
I don't see Nick Cage doing anything interesting.
-
Superman looks weak as shit, but then again, so were the Christopher Reeves movies.
Don't even fucking bring up Richard Pryor being in the third one. I love Richard Pryor, he was one of the funniest people to ever exist, but not even he could have made that movie enjoyable.
I was so hoping that they would have re-launched the franchise, like they did with Batman...but no...
-
Batman > Superman.
You can't do much with Superman.
-
Paul Dini and Bruce Timm did a lot with Superman. Yeah, it was animated, but they were able to make a lot of interesting stories...
-
I skipped X-Men and saw The DaVinci Code instead. I wish (SPOILERISH)
They hadn't fucked with the ending like they did. I would've given it four stars otherwise. Everything else was more or less acceptable for me except that. And then Merla brought up a good point: the ritual the Priory did that involved sex, they never explained that. So Sauniere just looks like a big pervert.

*Pimp-slaps Nuri*
"I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!"

The whole Juernaut character was annoyin. Why didn't he and Chuck reckonise each other? Why did Leech's powers work on him? Is he a Mutant in this? Do Leech's powers also work on non mutants? They didn't drain the powet from his X-Box or whatever the hell that was. I thouht for a minute the reason he was sent after the kid was because he wasn't a mutant.
Anyway... I also shit myself when I saw Maneto move that piece. I thouht we would see Chuck maniest himself somehow in that scene but just didn't expect that.

Juggie was a mutant, and who's to say they didn't recognize each other. They have done that before, not saying a word before.
I loved the ending, because I am a Magneto fanboy. Ian McKellan makes the perfect Magneto.
"YOU SHOULD HAVE KILLED ME WHEN YOU HAD THE CHANCE!!!"
-
I've been thinking of giving X3 a shot tomorrow, but only cause I have a left over movie gift card from X-mas.
And I'm not going to see the Da Vinci Code. I've read the book and I don't know what all the fuss is about, it was a mediocre book and an amazingly fast read. I'm sure the movie will be just as mediocre.
-
I argued with a woman in the photolab over it. I tried telling her that if was capable of proving the bible wrong, maybe the bible was wrong if a fictional thriller could do that. She left angry, fucking tourists.
-
The Bible doesn't comment on it one way or the other. It only says that she was his most beloved disciple. You can take that how you want, but it never says he was married and it never said he wasn't.
-
Juggie was a mutant,
Do you mean in the comic he was a mutant or in the movie? 'cause it was my understandin that he was just a normal human made super because of the bands of... well I'm not about to try to spell that but somethin like "ciserack".
-
Juggernaut is a mutant in the movie, I guess. I guess they though it'd be too weird and confusing to introducing a non-mutant superbeing into a movie where the only superbeings are mutants.
I think they even called him a mutant, which was why they were transporting him in that truck with the other mutants and the guards had those cure things in their guns.
Also
more like
"TOO MUCH IRON IN YOUR BLOOD."
-
Yeah, Juggernaut is definately a mutant in the movie, with no mention of him being Xavier's half-brother. They announce his powers as being "unstoppable when he builds up momentum".
I'm surprised that this offended people more than movie Psylocke's powet of invisibility, or her death. Flea was apparently in there too, and killed by Jean aswell.
I'm just pissed off that they make no mention of Nightcrawler, at all. They just expect you to buy the shitty game to find out what happened...
-

Don't start talking about that!! Everybody is talking about that, its turning to be sooooOOOoOo boring
-
Besides, it's incorrect, anyway. The beloved disciple was John, not Mary Magdelene.
-

The press releases said he was indeed X's step brother, but again just because they shared one scene didn't mean they had to go all emo and shit milking each other while prattling on about child abuse.
And Psylocke is screwed yet again by marvel.
And Nightcrawler is central in the game since Fox refused to have him in the movie. Gay Fox. >.<
-
Don't you mean gay Alan Cumming?
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
-
Magneto and Bryan Singer are gay.
Halle Berry and Rebecca Romijn are only gay in my dreams... >.>;
-
Nihtcrawler in movie 2 sucked my shit.
-
I thought the movie was too short. I was bothered by the fact that with the title "last stand", and the previews, I expected the whole world to go half to shit, with mutants on both sides and the army all fighting to mutual extinction. It was cool the way they fit the Sentinel in there though, even though you never get to see the whole damn thing, just the head. I was also annoyed at the lack of X-men, I expected more people in the movie than just the 6 or so at the end.
Also, Kitty's actress is short for a 19 year old. :P
"I'm the Juggernaut, bitch!"
I almost orgasmed when he said that. The movie wouldn't be complete without that line.
because I am a Magneto fanboy
Are you gay for Magneto?
I'm just pissed off that they make no mention of Nightcrawler, at all. They just expect you to buy the shitty game to find out what happened...
What happened? I was pissed he wasn't in the movie.
Besides, it's incorrect, anyway. The beloved disciple was John, not Mary Magdelene.
Jesus was gay for John? Certainly would throw the church into chaos if that was true.
Nihtcrawler in movie 2 sucked my shit.
Better than the cartoon. In the cartoon he sounded fucking Indian.
and which one was Psylocke?
-
You saying I am Brendan Fraiser?!
-
19? Shit... that's one flat assed 19 year old.
-
Yeah, she was in that other movie that is supposedly coming out soon, where she gets raped by some old guy.
-
No no, he thinks he is gonna rape her, only for her to reveal herself as a sick GoGo Yubari type girl who loves torturing people attracted to her.
I think she pulled off being a 16 year old, though she looks nothing like the previous actresses.
-
Are you being serious or are you just bs-ing?
-
I am serious if it's the movie I'm talking about, the girl is a 14 year old picked up by a net pedophile, who takes her home, and she asks for a drink, and she slipps him a mickey. When he wakes up, she does some sick shit to him, and basically enslaves him.
-
Ah. Saw a trailer for that. I would have put her at about 13 in that one. Fucked up.
-
and which one was Psylocke?
She was the Asian Chick with the purple Hair that hung around Callisto.
Well I saw it today and I can't believe they used Spike. Ugh! It was ok...but Wolverine did come across as a bit whiney about the whole Jean thing. I mean Cyc could have got away with those speeches, but it's just not Wolverine. And speaking of Cyc, I don't think he is dead. It may just be the fact that I love Cyclops or the fact that James Marsden's acted better in his 3 scenes then Halle Berry did in the whole movie, but I just don't think he died. First off something really strange was going on when he kissed Jean, you don't see him die, (There is the old movie rule, if you don't see them die they aren’t dead) and third Jean was passed out when they found her which mean something happened between her kissing Cyc, and when Storm and Wolverine found her. Also there is the fact that she didn't kill any good guys unless they attacked her.... Showing that the Jean part of her was dominate unless provoked. I wouldn't be surprised if Jean knew the Phoenix had been set free and basically put Cyc someplace safe so she wouldn't have to fight and maybe kill him. At least that makes sense from my standpoint, but it may be wishful thinking.I'm also glad Rouge seems to be out of the way now. While really important to the plot of X-Men she really seemed like dead weight in 2 and 3.
-
I agree completely about Cyc. They coulda showed him die, since they showed everyone else.
And I don't think that was 'psylocke' psylocke, but it coulda been just some random mutant chick with purple hair.
-
I would be inclined to aree but:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376994/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0376994/)
Mei Melançon .... Psylocke (as Mei Melançon)
-
I'm surprised that this offended people more than movie Psylocke's powet of invisibility, or her death.
That does it, I'm not seeing that movie ....unless I somehow get to see it for free after it leaves theaters. But yeah!
The movie is "Hard Candy" I believe. I think the plot was that the girl's friend was molested or raped or something like that, so she lured out the guy who did it to extract a little vilgilante justice. But I think it's also possible that the guy didn't even do anything to her friend. I haven't seen it mind you, so I'm not certain.
::looks at aDam's signature:: g-spot?
-
An unintentional but obvious joke I've made time and time aain in the past few days since losin that key... somewhere.
-
I can forgive just about anything wrong with this installment due to the flawless spot-on interpretation of Hank McCoy. And I'm talking about X-Men/X-Factor Beast - I have no idea who that clod impersonating him in the Avengers was. <_< I cringed when I heard Kelsey Grammer was going to play him and I'm delighted to admit I was wrong.
Quick! Which two comic mutants was movie Calisto a combination of? :P
-
Qucksilver and.......
Shit....I should know this.
And yeah, Beast was pretty spot on. I was actually happy about Grammer being beast, but then I was always a big Cheers/Frasier fan.
-
Rama for one!
Hint: the other one is a girl, and the powet in question was not her main one, but it's what she was used for.
-
I wanna say Scarlet Witch, but that seems to easy with Quicksilver being the other one.
-
Scarlet Witch or Longshot or Domino.
-
Not yet! And Longshot is not a girl!
Next hint: red hair
-
Ehhhh ... I could probably say Caliban and be half right.
-
My first guess until Mags asked her to track Mystique. Caliban could detect & track, but I can't remember or find mention of his locating a specific one he had never met.
It's pretty esoteric and from the highly-confusing Days of Future Past AU - Rachel Summers AKA Future Phoenix, who was used as a mutant hound and could zero in on particular ones due to her psionic levels.
Of course, it could be both. No matter how you slice it, we still have "disposable custom mutie for plot device" and comic Callisto was present in name only. I can't get all AR about the comic/movie clashes and stay sane, but Storm was a much better fighter than portrayed against Callisto. I seem to remember a little issue of Morlock leadership, which I thought might be a backstory when they implied a beef existed between them in the movie pre-buzz. Then again, instead of our lovely goddess, we have Homegirl Ororo. I was waiting for her to put her hands on her hips, snap her fingers at Logan and say "nigga please" more than once.
As long as they stay consistent within the movie storyline, I'll be content. I'm just glad they didn't make Hank a teenager like they did Bobby & Cyc. <_<
-
Well in the Screen Writers defense....Callistos powers in the comic where pretty lame.
-
No argument there. Everybody has enhanced senses & reflexes. It's the economy mutation.
-
And what good is enhanced sight if you have no depth perception?
-
!!!!!!
-
Why the fuck are you people discussing mutant's powers? LOSERRSSS
You should be discussing who's the hottest one there!( and of course it's Cyclops. Although the ice man looks like this guy I used to hook up with only cause he looked like friggin' Orlando Bloom)
-
Why the fuck are you people discussing mutant's powers? LOSERRSSS
Um....because we've read the comics & don't watch movies because we want to sleep with the actors?
And what good is enhanced sight if you have no depth perception?
That fits your avatar rather well, Rama.
-
Um....because we've read the comics & don't watch movies because we want to sleep with the actors?
That's more like it B)
-
Probably because I don't wear my cock outside my clothes and let it think for me. Not everything is a matter of screwing or getting screwed by something, sad as the case may be. Although I'd like to hit Rebecca Romaijin (sp?WTF) so hard her ass would be welded to the wall.
Then again, I never read the X-books, so the movies are about my only experience with the franchise. Which is why I don't care how much they butcher it.
Now, when Superman comes out, I'll go the night it debuts (June 30th, BTW...they moved it up), since I've been a Superman fan since I was 3. Then you can watch some anal comic bitching on my part.
-
Although I'd like to hit Rebecca Romaijin (sp?WTF) so hard her ass would be welded to the wall.
Hugh Jackman's pretty easy on my eyes. I'll even run the risk of furrie accusations and say Hank was pretty darned cute because I'm so relieved that they didn't use the mofo sumbitch Cat Dude incarnation. That still pisses me off - like we don't have enough cat people in comics. <_< It's the best Kelsey Grammer has ever looked.
Now, when Superman comes out, I'll go the night it debuts (June 30th, BTW...they moved it up), since I've been a Superman fan since I was 3. Then you can
I take it that you already know Lois is a single mom with an annoyingly precocious kid then? And chell your schedule - this morning I heard they moved it up again to June 28.
-
Finishing the thought after a convoluted phone call - no insult to Halle or Rebecca fans, but I found it a pretty libido-free movie because I don't care for any of the women. I wish Iman (http://cdn.channel.aol.com/channels/0c/07/434ac8d9-0002a-03a7b-400cb8e1) could have been Storm.
-
I am kinda disapointed overall with how Cyclops has been portrayed in the movies. He never led anything other than the Statue of Liberty, and the rest of the movies he was there more as Wolverine's foil for Jean's love than anything. I can only imagine what the Wolverine movie is going to be like, since we basically had three already.
-
Yeah me either....I'm still hoping for an X4 and the return of Cyc where he'll really gets to shine. But I heard that the reason they killed Cyc off was because he went with Synger to Superman: Returns. That puts some doubts on my theroy about him coming back.
-
The 4-part Wolverine series was interesting, but then he'll be all weepey over Mariko. Do his past with Sabretooth & he's morose over Silver Fox. Do his wild man in the Canadian woods storyline, and he's got a mope-on for Heather. Guy's just a damn mess when it comes to women.
-
That'd be hard to push into one movie though....but of course you could do ala Highlander with flashbacks and I'd love to see Sabertooth and Wolverine go at it again.
-
They could do Origin: the movie. That would actually be good.
-
Except Origin, while insightful, was really boring.
-
I enjoyed it, you ninny.
-
The big problem is that it's hard for Logan to go hoping down memory lane, cause he still doesn't remember his past in the movies. He turned Stryker down when he offered at the end of X2, and they didn't even address it in X3. I guess you could say that as a last dying gift to Logan, Jean unlocked those memories for him, or you could have something happen in the first act so he could remember.
-
Well, according to the latest from Avi Arad, the Wolvering movie will be "about his life, his mysteries, and his loves. It's not really a prequel or a sequel". And Magneto will be in it. From what I heard on the way to work, Hugh Jackman will be heavily involved in the script & production. That eases my mind as he really loves the character, and not just because it was his big international break. I've also read that "it is assumed that the Wolverine movie will flesh out Logan's secret history and his participation in Canada's super soldier experiments. In the desperate search for his lost memory, he will travel from the wilds of the Canadian wilderness to the teeming cities of Japan and beyond."
So Rama just might get to see Alpha Flight after all.... :P
-
I doubt it. I wonder if they will get Sam Jackson to play Nick Fury?
-
o Rama just might get to see Alpha Flight after all.... :P
Yay.....I can't wait. <_<
I wonder if they will get Sam Jackson to play Nick Fury?
You would deny Hasselhoff the honor of reprising the role?
-
Yes.
Tommy Lee Jones or Mickey Rourke could probably do it, too.
-
Mickey Rourke. Oh Yeah.
-
I didn't think Hasselhoff was that bad actually.... The rest of the movie was a fucking train wreck, but I though Michael Knight pulled off Fury pretty well.
-
I'm so relieved that they didn't use the mofo sumbitch Cat Dude incarnation. That still pisses me off - like we don't have enough cat people in comics.
Ew, I forgot about that! Ew! Mental image!
Finishing the thought after a convoluted phone call - no insult to Halle or Rebecca fans, but I found it a pretty libido-free movie because I don't care for any of the women.
They don't do anything for me either. =\
I wish Iman could have been Storm.
Hell yeah! That would've been sweet!
I am kinda disapointed overall with how Cyclops has been portrayed in the movies.
Same here, and I never even really liked Cyclops. I just think he deserved better.
The whole Wolverine/Jean thing really puts me off. I like that pairing better when it's something neither one can actually bring themselves to act upon.
-
Well the thing I didn't like about movie three was... Jean rejected him in movie 2! He just jumped on her like a fag, right after she 'dumped' Cyc. Cold move... doesn't he know bros before hos?
-
He's Canadian. There's no such thing as "bros before hos" in Canada! Ask aDam...
-
I'll drink to that. Tapping ass takes priority over pretty much everything... even breathing depending on what I'm doing.
-
Bros before hoes has always been a stupid saying.
Besides, Wolverine's never cared much for Cyc.
-
Watched X3 last night after I finished downloading it.
Color me unimpressed.
There was a lot of potential here, the actors were great, the sets were great, the CG was good but the story was simply blah, the direction was half assed at best, what happened to most of the characters fell flat and unlike when you finished watching the last two movies I did not feel the need to ever bother see X3 again. Too much of the movie was pointless overall.
Oh and the BO for the movie fell 78% from last week so seems most had their fill of the movie as well. Blame the poor word of mouth of the film on that.
-
I've always thought it was a retarded expression. I mean it's not like I'm saying "fuck you guys I'm not friends with you anymore 'cause my girl doesn't like you" but when I have the chocie of spending time with her or hanging out with my friends, I'll spend time with her. How can you be prepared to spend your life with someone and then tell them that going out boozing or to the strippers is more important than her?
-
ha ha, I was like "body odor fell 78%"?
-
Cold move... doesn't he know bros before hos?
According to most fanfic sites, it's "slash before gash". :P
-
Gash? :x
-
slash??
I don't get it :o
-
slash - (n) slang: Word used in fanfiction to denote homosexual pairings. Usually male/male, sometimes female/female AKA femmeslash. Often used interchangeably with yaoi or yuri.
gash - (n) slang: A word used to describe female genitalia.
Bros before hos/slash before gash....
*hands Faye a bloody mary with extra Tabasco*
Chase this with an espresso and it will all make sense. :)
-
Never heard that term for Gayeity.
-
"Slash" I knew, but "gash".... I was like "jeez, don't tell me we're making holes now!".....
-
It's called guro.
All holes are good, even the ones you make yourself.
4chan scarred my innocence. x.x
-
All holes are not good. FACT.
-
I've yet to penetrate one I didn't enjoy...
-
What about the hole's feelings, damn you.
-
Yeah but this way at least Faye stays quiet with her mouth full.
-
What about the hole's feelings, damn you.
Always a positive reaction.
-
Through a knife wound in someone's leg? A strained nostril? I don't think so!
