I remember only seeing half of Berserk when I first saw it so I decided to go and watch the rest of it. Why didn't I believe people when they said the ending was messed up? That last episode was fucked.
Did I miss something? Like maybe a not-released-in-the-US movie or ova?
-
Did you watch the extras? The gag reels on that are the best I've ever seen in an anime.
-
The manga continues beyond that point.
-
JOERAMMSTEIN!!!!
-
Where the fuck is Joe?
-
He didn't really exist. It was just the village elders wearing a joe costume.
-
He's posted at Crazy's as recently as this week.
-
When I saw this, I was reminded of the lyrics from Clerks, the one Jay's cousin was singing.
-
Yeah I thought it was something about that too. Weird...
-
People from the Eastern bloc are wierd.
-
I"m a fan of the eastern bloc.
-
I worked with a dude from Latvia, and he obsessed about Trance music and vodka.
-
The anime only covers about twelve and a half volumes of the manga, if I remember correctly, plus there was a significant amount of stuff that appeared in those early volumes that never made it into the TV series. Currently the ongoing Berserk manga is partway through volume 31, so if anyone's interested in checking out what happens to Guts after that particularly nasty business, there's plenty of catching up to do.
-
Holy crap. Joe's fucking Beetlejuice.
-
Hmmm... Let's put that theory to test...
"Joerammstein, Joerammstein, Joerammstein!"
Nothing happened! You fail, whitey!
-
Look around your house. LOOK!!!!!!
-
I refuse to play your games.
-
Let's not say his name anymore just to be safe though.
-
Who's? Canada Gundam's?
-
Yes...Joe of the Royal Mounted Police.
-
I refuse to play your games.
You always do. You suck. You're no fun since you quit drugs.
-
Yes...Joe of the Royal Mounted Police.
I thought Joe was a lumberjack (and he's okay).
-
Most of the Mounties are lumberjacks in the off season.

Yea, I saw those. Some of them were humerous.

See, I don't like it when shows do that, expect you to read the source material if you want to know more, rather than wrapping the series up in a somewhat better way. For example, if they weren't making an Xmen 3, and they just said at the end of 2 "Read the comics if you want to know more..." Well, the comics and the movies differ enough that any casual reader would be confused.
Now, Berserk might follow the manga closer than any Hollywood stuff, and I could pick up the Manga where the anime left off, but Joe said there was some differences and you'd be better off starting from the beginning.
-
Actually, that's not the case. As long as you start with volume 13, you won't have any trouble getting back into it. To be honest, the first few volumes really aren't all that great. And it's well worth it to chell out the continuation of the manga, because it outstrips the anime in practically every way.
Anyway, no one said you had to pay for it. This is the internet afterall.

What ticks me off is when anime starts production, knowing the original manga is nowhere near ending, yet they decide to just stop in the middle or go in different directions.
See Hellsing, Kare Kano, GTO.
-
In this case the director tried to find a respectful stopping point. The manga had already passed the point where he stopped and he hopes to do more some day.
As far as what's left out does anyone know if it was really important?
I know chibi guts gets man raeped but I can live without seeing that animated.
-
Well ...
The character of Puck, Ricard not being killed by the Apostles (Was that his name? I can't remember), and the Skull Knight.
That's all I can remember off of the top of my head.
-
oh yeah they mentioned that puck guy in the special features I think, I don't remember why he said they took him out.

You're describing pretty much every manga to anime adaptation that's been produced in the past ten years. Kenshin, Trigun, Excel Saga, Fullmetal Alchemist, the list goes on. It's highly irregular for a popular manga to finish its run before being adapted into an anime.
-
hey it's joerammstein! The guy that got me to finish watching the rammstein super splooge video and realize that they weren't gay.
-
That's nothing. You should watch their video for Mann gegen Mann.
-
Most of the Mounties are lumberjacks in the off season.
What off season? Crime doesn't take a vacation!
-

What will that do? Make me think they're gay again?
-
Hahahahaha...

I thought in Canada, there was no crime aside from what we from the States bring.
-
You think Snidely Whiplash is just going to stop tying girls to train tracks just cause it's the off season? I think not.
-

Then crime commited by US tourists doesn't take a vacation.
It's be sweet if it did. I could just take a few weeks of the year to work on our prod systems without worrying about the cops missing them.
-
Thats because we quench for the sunny beaches of Canada. (10 bucks for anyone who gets that reference*
-
Canada does have sunny beaches it's just a few days a year and pretty much always cold.

Yeah, and it really ticks me off! I only named three of the bigger offenders in my book.
But Excel Saga benefitted, IMO. The manga (rather, the parts I've read) wasn't nearly as fun as the anime.

Hot Chocolate doesn't mix with surf.
-
Surf? I said we had beaches I didn't say we were retarded.
-
All beaches that have waves have surf...not all have surfing however.
-
all the beaches in the east of the US SUCK for surfing. that's all i'm gonna say about it. they SUCK.suck.suck.suck.
-
Surf? I said we had beaches I didn't say we were retarded.
Surf in that sense meant waves and spraying. Not the verb.
-
I"ve never heard it used in such a way.
-
But it does though. The first one:

I am from the American North East. I get made fun of alot for using odd words they use in England but nowhere else in the United States or beyond.
Like Bubbler, Guess what that is.
-
I have no idea. I'm sure you can guess "swamp cooler". Some chick's husband from the west uses it.
-
A bubbler is a drinking fountain. I'm pretty sure you've mentioned it before.
-
I thought it was when you farted in the swimming pool.
-
Weird. Not many oceans around these parts. I've never actually seen one.
-
We call it a bubbler here in Wisconsin too.
And a swamp cooler, otherwise known as an evaporative cooler, is an iar conditioning device that cools and humidifies air by forcing it across a media (usually a corrugated paper pad) with water running down it.
I just wrote a patent having to do with one last week.
-
Could "iar", perchance, be Wisconsinian for "air"?
-
It's a new thing I'm trying to start
-
And how does one get into the ground level of this 'iar conditioning'.
-
When I hear the word bubbler I think of a water pipe...and I don't even smoke pot.
-
I do.
:)
-
We noticed.
-
Bubbler: a fart that feels round and rolls around the inside of your ass before it pops out in a manner analogous to that of a bubble popping.
-
The gag reels on that are the best I've ever seen in an anime.
True. Like when Schemmel kept dicking up his line, followed up by the crowd's pre-recorded "YAYYYYYY!" Texhnolyze had some pretty amusing ones as well, plus Victoria Harwood talking dirty. Rowr.

So don't drink the water in Wisconsin?
