Title: FF fanboy/girl movie
Post by: Dagurasu on Apr 29, 2006, 05:30:16 PM
Guess what I got the day it came out?  ;)  Suprised there were still copies, expected them to be all bought by legions of fanboys and Sephiroth fangirls.

The extras are ok, but they could have put in some more, like a good commentary track. Half the deleted scenes looked like they were in the movie already or could have been put in there anyway, because they were 2 seconds long.

Someone complained that they didn't have the 30 minute intro that came before the movie that explained the game, but it's there, just separate.

I'm watching the dub for shits and giggles.

Still needs commentary track.

I got it the day it came out at Circuit City. Just watched it last night...

VERY AWESOME AND PRETTY. I loved it.

Hmm, I tried preordering at Gamestop to get the bonus disc with interviews with the English cast (I think the English cast), but I preordered really late and I don't think they had any bonus discs. Also Gamestop is charging 25 dollars for the movie, so screw that.

I'm still relatively near the beginning of FF7 so I should probably finish the game before watching this right?

Is the part that "explains the game" a summary of FF7?

Yes and no.

There's really nothing that explains ALL of the events in FF7, but through flashbacks you get the gist of the plot and the ending...

You know what they needed in this movie? A counter to count how many times the characters broke the laws of physics by flying around and shit.

Kait Sith/Rufus had a scottish accent! WTF? "Aye laddy. We be having sum haggis tonite!"

Speaking of voice actors, I hate it when I recognize an english voice actor and associate it with a previous character he's done. It happens sometimes with the Japanese VA, but it's worse with the engish VA. Like

Rude: Crispin Freeman (Alucard from Hellsing, Alex Rowe from Last Exile, Zelgadis from Slayers, ect....)
Barett: Beau Billingslea (Jet Black from CB, Bear from Gungrave, ect...)
Vincent: Steven Jay Blum (Spike from CB, Mugen from Champaloo, ect...)
RedXIII: Liam O'brian ("Mr Sandman" Gaara)

Personally,  I like when I recognize the english VA it sort of combos the coolness of the characters...especially when it's the bebop guys for some reason.

The only Japanese VA I can pick out is Megumi Hayashibara. Even then, that's only because her voice is like somebody skinning a cat alive.

You're crazy.

I got the movie despite my waffling on the issue of whether I should or not.  Very pretty, but the weird physics grated on me...not so much the characters themselves (we should be used to impossible martials arts in the days following the Matrix), but the damn motorcycles.  That was really cheap.  Plus they took the "main VG character says little to nothing" shit too far.

Anyway, expect a review on my site soon.

The physics didn't bother me, except for one part that wasn't related to the fighting, really.

Also, it's Cait Sith/Reeve.

You mean the way the motorcycles could drive backwards, fly through the air, and even drive upside down like they weighed 5 pounds?

You can't get your money back but Wal-Mart is giving out free copies of Spirits Within when you buy Advent Children. Not that you would want Spirits Within but atleast that's something...

Please don't remind me that I actually bought Spirits Within.  That crap just failed on every single considerable level.

I'm still trying to get rid of my copy.

The CG was nice (and possibly even better than the CG for Advent Children) but all that gaia religious hippy lefttard crap was annoying.
